So this one that caught on fire, can we assume it was one of the samples?

Need to know the setup before it becomes a matter of concern.

hum....I don't need to know the setup...... everybody says the chip is just like the dna30 so it should include protective features such as overcurrent, over and undervoltage protection and a thermal shutdown.

If this "fire" was caused by poor wiring then thats one thing but if it was due to something chip related then that is quite a different matter.... we all want a safe device...don't we???

Before you start "ragging on me".... I have built and used dna mods for 1.5 years now without anything like this happening... so I know a bit about the technology....

here is just one example...

The concern to me is that the device fired and pulled more amperage than it was capable of regardless of what the setup was. I know there are known problems at this point but I'm afraid there will soon be thousands and thousands of these devices floating around failing. Just more potential ammo for Gov to step in and drop more regulations IMO.

Right after they regulate flashlights...

The fire button fell inside and he glued it back in....then it caught fire later on...The switch is a logic function – all power switching is handled with transistors inside the DNA module, so the switch does not need to be rated for power....in other words the amperage to the atty connector does not go thru the switch like it does in a mec mod....

I'm going to be doing something with mine when it arrives in the area of where the positive wire crosses that partition of the case, perhaps a grommet.
The positive end of the battery holder might need shoring up too.
Surely this is one of the samples, how else could someone have one?

If I opened that up I would be REALLY tempted to remove almost all of the wires and rewire the entire thing. That's just a mess. There is so much extra and unnecessary wire packed in there that I'm not at all surprised it could have shorted. Not to mention those soldier points look like something my 12 year old daughter would do.

Is that red power wire in the bottom-right corner even connected to anything? It looks like a good quarter to a half inch of bare, uninsulated wire sticking out on the end. If the rest is like that then no wonder it shorted out and caught fire.

.1ohm or not -still shouldn't have fire.
Not good.

I agree, if it was accidental... Care needs to be taken with these devices, clones or not, same thing will happen if you insert a battery reversed in a real dna 30,dont even have to fire it.

Looking at FB and the clone that caught fire I must say that I am worried for you guys! The Quality here is CRAP! !!! If you looked at the other photo's you will see the Fire Button is PUSHED IN.... So beside the unit catching fire - the fire button is pushed into the unit and it would be that every unit could have this happen cause the cases have the fire button hole drilled to large and the production has started and Thousands have been made.
The only way around that problem would be to scrap the entire first production and re- drill the cases and start all over! Take a look:

The thread has just spun off the planet....

Now we're to the point where we're speculating about buttons (a ridiculously simple fix, if its even an actual issue) because some guy used the mod way outside of its KNOWN (not saying it should fire .1) specs, it MAY have caught on fire (pics dont look like much of a 'fire' to me), and therefore the sky is falling...again lol.

Yes I agree with that, it would be a simple fix we could do ourself - I am just stating should the factory not feel safe they would hold shipment until they fixed the issue and this time its not speculation its a fact with prof and pictures that this did happen to at least one unit...
I also don't see much of the fire part other then the display was fried. I would take one of these as it is now and put my own better button on it so its not a worry for me - just the factory.

This also happened to a DNA20 device Hana Clone if I remember correctly and now on a DNA30 device. Yikes!!!

Isn't elev8 getting all three batches on the initial shipment? That's what I was told.

ETA: I meant all 3 rounds of batch 1.

Even if they are, they're probably separating them off for shipment purposes. It's gonna take a while for them to box, label, and ship all of these MODs. They're likely partitioning them for their own inventory tracking and labor purposes.

Again, throw a battery in backwards in a real evolv dna 30. You'll see very similar results. You don't even have to fire it! The original post of this a member of thread said he was there and there wasn't a fire, fried chip yes. The exploding lipos in iPhones didn't even get this much complaining. Know what you're doing, and be responsible and you'll be fine. If it's not one thing it's another! "It won't fire at .3ohms" now it's "OMG! It fires too low". Treat it like a mech and don't be stupid. Would for fire a .1ohm coil on a mech? No! Just be safe and know what you're doing! I stated before in this thread, it might not be the device for you if you don't understand how to vape safely...
