Jason is a great publicist and he seems to be taking the view that jazzing all this up:
- Is good business for him
- Does the rest of us no harm
- Is a good opportunity for more hate on UKV
Some people will probably disagree with him on at least some of those points. He is a good businessman since he runs one of the biggest ecig firms in the world, and employs about 60 - 80 people one way or another - so he doesn't generally make bad decisions. He also doesn't care what anyone else thinks, and deliberately goes way over the top. If you meet him you'll realise he isn't nuts (at least as far as business goes) and this is probably some kind of a game to wind up the UKV members, for whom he has a special place in his heart
I'm not sure if his attitude to this incident is right but I guess we'll see. At present we don't know if it will have implications for vapers as far as buses / the Olympics / future rights are concerned. Jason seems to be hinting that it's all a [pharma?] plot, pre-planned and designed to hurt us. I'd say it's more likely to be the usual media frenzy over someone with just enough brain cells to be able to dial a short number on a phone and say the magic word 'terrori...' (I can't bring myself to type it).
These things tend to blow over very quickly and nothing is deader than last week's news. I just hope there are no ramifications.
Roly, I agree that TW Jason is a good business man in many ways & has helped promote e-cigs in many ways. However, I think he can be his own worst enemy
he can't cope with any kind of criticism & it's not only on UKV that he has had a go at forum members. He has done it here on ECF in the past on his suppliers sub-forum & then deleted all of the threads on there when he spat his dummy out of the pram.I bought my first e-cig from Pillbox38 when he first started selling them on eBay. So back then (coming up to 4 years ago) I always linked to him whenever I saw anyone on any forum asking about e-cigs. I was the very first one to post on his original TW forum but these days, I don't even bother to look in there as I know of so many folks that have been banned from his forum for just making the slightest criticism of any of his products. So very seldom recommend TW recently.
If I remember correctly what I read and saw about the bus over in the UK the smoke people saw was coming from a bag, not a person vaping. It seems to me that video is the problem, the guy in it is a publicity hound who was probably never on the bus. I didn't watch the whole video, or read the whole thread, so someone please correct me if I am wrong about the smoke coming from a person and not the bag. They also said a man of asian appearance.

I don't care whether the guy is a creep or not. I think the video is funny and not an insult to UK Vapors. I've never bought anything from Totally Wicked. They are selling the same thing as everyone else with their name and logo for usually a higher price. Nothing wrong with it though.

what????? nobody can say anything bad about TW????? Oh puhleeeeeeeeze,,,,,,I have an opinion and I have a right to state said opinion (although I totally understand why UKV made the rule they did,,,,,,no funds to fight it) Just RIDICULOUS! I am rethinking any further TW product purchases. And I do love their melon e-juice.

I don't know about the UK, but here in the US, in order to win a libel suit, the person bringing the suit has to prove
1) the claims are NOT TRUE. They must be FALSE CLAIMS.
2) they lost money over the claims.
Now if someone was saying that they put dead rats in their juices and that was NOT true AND They lost money, THAT is libel. Saying they don't like the customer service or they don't like the juices is NOT LIBEL.

That's pretty much how it works in the UK as well.
Jason Cropper has threatened legal action against UKV and as it is a forum run by normal people without funds to fight a legal action I suspect they are being (justifiably) cautious and have taken it down pending legal advice.

I've been using UKV almost exclusively to keep in touch with other members, for reviews, contacting vendors and getting news on discounts and promotions. If it turns out that it's Totally Wicked behind this, well all I can say is he can kiss goodbye to any future business from anyone who values the community there, particularly after slagging us all off beforehand.
Also, it's the only way that some people can keep in touch regarding transactions on the member classifieds, so anyone in mid-transaction, trying to organise paypal payments or delivery details, or refunds, or whatever, well some are going to be shafted until it comes back up. Awesome.

I couldn't agree more! +10, I know that's where I got all my vaping supplies when I started vaping, and for that I am deeply sorry, but never again will I give my hard earned money to that company. After seeing what he's done to the people he went into business with(and his volunteers) he's not a good business man, or a good man! There is a such thing as karma, or treating others the way you want to be treated. Just my .02 cents.

Well I guess we're gonna have to watch our Ps and Qs here too now, walls have ears and those ears are attached to the head of a paranoid mentalist who shall not be named, or it will be the devil of us all....but I'll willingly say this much - I'm never buying a TW product again, they're officially on my "never in a month of Sundays" list...currently of one. It's not like they're competitive anyway, you're basically paying over the odds for branding, their forum operates a policy of lockdown when it comes to constructive criticism, you're not even allowed to discuss any connection between quitting cigarettes and vaping one of their products.
Taking my access to UKV away from me - final straw.

So, in Anorths screenshots he's admitting having a team watching the forum for six weeks, this is planned. The nutter thing was planned, he's set it all up to try and take UKV down.
I hope they've kept all his posts because there was some serious personal attacks, forum attacks and plenty of provocation. Lots of slanderous personal attacks, he's a nasty piece of work but this is a new level, I will donate to UKV legal fees if necessary as I am sure most of the members will. He has done nothing but troll and provoke that forum for years, they banned him yesterday, now this.
he is just chucking his weight around, very pleasant.
