I've only been smoking for about 4 years now, so I'm not "in as deep" as most are. Thing is, I can already feel the negative implications this habit is causing on my body, and I'm watching myself slowly snowball it into a larger addiction. I'm not quite up to a pack a day yet. For 3 years I was good with 1-3 cigs a day, but in the past year it's suddenly shot up to about a 10 smoke a day average.

I have chronic sharp pains in my lungs after "heavy" smoking days, and I've actually had a couple nights where I smoked so much menthol that I was spitting up blood from what felt like a hole in my throat (Needless to say, I quit buying menthol after that). I'm only 21, I'm far too young to do permanent damage to myself and I realize I need to make a change.

I read the FAQ's, and the guides posted here, and I've obtained a basic understanding, but I still feel a little lost.

Basically, I don't feel like I need some of these more complex setups, because as I've read on here, those aren't really necessary for someone who isn't at that 1+ pack a day level yet. I'd like to buy something simple like the Blu or GreenSmoke (Looked those up on here, read that they're awful and overpriced, so I won't be purchasing those) yet every review website for the more simple 2 part setups smells something awful of complete bull***t and bought reviews.

By any chance, could you guys reccomend me a good brand for a more simple starter kit (I'm in the market for anything not topping a hundred by much)? All the "drip tip, 3 part, mod, etc" stuff I'm completely lost on, and I'd prefer something less intense as I'm simply trying to prevent a pack a day addiction, not curb it.

(Oh, and could someone explain the fundamental difference between the manual and auto? I know that the manual heats the coil when the button is pushed while the auto simply heats when inhalation occurs at the other end, but what exactly is the difference that is made?)

Thanks again in advance everyone :p

Welcome! I'll tell you what was recommended to me. I got a Riva 510 lite bundle from Liberty Flights.

Click the 20% off button on the top left. Comes with 2 batteries (manual) 2 atomizers, empty cartridges, charger. You'll need to orger some juice. Try small samples at first.

Oh, manual batteries are better, IMO. Good luck!

Hello VitoJohn.
I'm in the same boat as you -- I'm only 21, but I definitly feel like my addiction to smokes is going spiral out of control soon. I went from a pack lasting me a week, to only 2 days, and now it barely lasts me 24 hours.
This is a great forum, the people are AWESOME, and extremely willing to help us noobs out. There will always be support if you're having problems kicking the analogs.
So welcome to the ECF!

Kallie

In your situation I'd suggest a basic KR808d-1 with manual batteries. The manuals allow more control over the hit you get. The KR8 is a 2 piece which uses cartomizers. They're basically an atomizer surrounded by filler material that holds liquid. Since you smoke around 1/2 a pack/day the smaller battery should be able to keep up with you. If you anticipate vaping considerably more than you smoked you might want to think about a larger battery such as a Riva or eGo. Small batteries get annoying if you vape a lot because you're constantly charging them every few hours.

Kr808d-1 starter kit: kr808d-1 cartomizers, kr808d battery and more! Kr808d-1 kit from LiteCigUSA!
808-D

For around $35 plus a box or 2 of extra cartomizers and a few bottles of juice you can get started.

Liberty Flights is taking a bit longer to load for me right now as well. They should be working soon though. They are an excellent site for a starter kit. Upper left corner, click 20% off coupon. Batteries(mine did for my eGo) come with a 2 month warranty. A drip tip which i must bring up because it is soooo wonderful, is very very simple to use. Your battery will be attached to an atomizer which, heats up the liquid and vaporizes it turning it into that vapor you'll be inhaling. You just attach the drip-tip to the end of the atomizer. It's very simple, and makes the experience much more pleasurable in my opinion. A typical cartridge will feel like a hard draw compared to an open mouth drip tip. You can also use cartomizers, which is the atomizer and cartridge combined. You can even put a drip tip at the end of those as a mouth piece.

You don't have to worry about mods right now. Drip tips, two piece, three piece will soon be common knowledge for ya.

two piece--- basically your battery and a cartomizer of some sort.

three piece--- battery, atomizer, drip tip.

Many of the topics above will also tell you everything you need to know.

Oh and look at that Liberty is working!! Here is a link for a regular 510 model. Give or take 2 hour battery, should be up your alley. Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye 510 Cheap too after the 20% off!

MY opinion: Get an Ego-t (kit), Get 1 atty (atimizor), and a 5 pack of cartos (look for a site with a sample pack)(get extra) and a drip tip

your ego-t battery will be a manual battery (press to produce vapor) it will come with 5 tanks, two tank atty's, charger, wall plug in, and maybe some juice. first thing you do is get your battery and charge it up, get your 510 cartomizor and screw it on the battery and vape!

Each carto should last you about a day, and youll wonder why i recommend the ego-t with all that other stuff. Cartos do it for alot of people, some people get bored or just aren't satisfied. Get your 510 atty and a drip tip, and drip 3 drops of juice right on the atty and put the drip tip on and vape! or fill your tank up with juice pop it into the tank atty and vape! There will be so much stuff to do and try that you won't even think about cigs.
Also don't think you need all that stuff to carry around, just bring a carto or two and a full battery and it will last a full day of pretty frequent vaping.
If you go to AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Electronic Cigarettes| Electronic Cigarette| Cigarettes Electronic| Cigarette Electronic Cigarette| Best Electronic Cigarettes | Happy Holidays! they have a ego-t kit and you can get 5ml bottles of a couple diffrent juice (nuport Highly recommended) and all the stuff mentioned for like 90$ or something and they ship pretty quick
Let me know if you have any questions!!
Welcome to vaping!

Madjack: This was over a year ago. No blood spitting problems since then. I just had too many menthols in one night with too little time in between. Thanks for the consideration though. I have a couple friends who went through the same thing and the doctor basically told them that their throats had been rubbed raw by the harshness of the menthol. Once I started buying regular the problem never reoccurred.

Cskent: Thanks a lot, just one question. With that given e-cig, do I just refil the cartomizers with my own juice, buy prefilled ones, or buy empty cartomizers and fill those with juice I've purchased?
I don't have a preference for any specific way fo going about things, just wondering how that part works.

EDIT: Frosting and JLH, Thanks a bunch guys. Checking all those links out as well. I can't believe how fast I got quality responses here. You guys are great!

Hey for a light smoker you could always check out Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarettes | Wholesale Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cigarette | Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarette and check out the volt, would be easy for you. More cigarette like, and your not a heavy smoker. Alot of opinions on here, but I will say SI has great prices and customer service, and that counts for alot in my mind. You can pm for discount code to really reasonable proces and fast shipping. :) Enjoy your experience.

Oh wow, that looks simple enough to fill. Haha, no idea why, but somehow I had myself thinking it was much more complicated.

Checking out those links now guys, These all sound like exactly what I was looking for. Might go with that Joye 510 kit because it seems like it's a pretty good deal (especially after that 20%, like Frosting said).

One last question. When you guys say X hours of battery, does that mean X hours of use, or just X hours unattached from the charger?

No problem vitojohn.
Another good thing about going with a 510 thread model is its very popular which means finding different things for it will be a lot easier. Seeing that Liberty Flights US is in Cali, you might even have your model in one day after it's shipped. Ummm. Bonus much!! Took mine 4 days, but ya... east coast here. The batteries being rechargeable, not much to worry about after they charged. They will hold their charge until you use them. When it comes to how long they will last, that depends on you and your personal use.
