I have had a few atty's that just kind of started to put out a low amount of vapor. And all the cleaning in the world won't help. I tryed doing a good dry burn on one it worked very well about 20 min,now it barley works in less you drip lots of juice on it! So I decided to dissect two of the not working well atty's to see what is happening in side. And i found that the wick on both atty's were burned by the coil. Now i see how the atty works and why it's stops producing vapor. How its works the juice in the cart wicks to the bridge in the atty then the wick under the bridge wicks the juice to the coil where it is turned to a vapor. My Theory why it starts to produce low vapor, becouse the wick starts to burn up from over heating and or from runing it dry,i would say runing it dry or over heating tends to burn the wick a little each time you run it dry, so it time it burns all the way threw the wick resuiting in pour vapor production next to none. I also think that when your cart gets dark brown the gunk building in up in your cart gets on the wick and lowers vapor producing that is when cleaning need to be done. But try not to let your carts get gunked up! Atty's are sensitive to harsh cleaning And i only let them air dry. Also see above thread atty cleaning overkill ok someone had to say it!

Hello squeeze, I think you are 100% correct, the thing is how to prevent the threads/wick around the coil to burnt or develop gunk on them.

I have been doing the method proposed by MrGrimme in his thread "How I keep my attys going", but something inside me tell me that's not enough... possible the best is to use isopropyl alcohol as described by cozzicon, but since I can't get isopropyl alcohol here my only option is vodka...

Problem with vodka is that some users have reported problems with it and I don't want to take the risk of damaging a working atty (more when I only have one extra unit until the end of month)... So for now I'll just blow them every other day.

When I get more I'll try the vodka soak every 2 days...

BTW, if anyone is cleaning their attys with vodka frequently I'll love to hear their experiences and results...
