Yes another one that need some edumacation  After two days all of a sudden my atty is tasting like crap. The cart has plenty of liquid, polyfil looks moist and situated well. Blew out atty no go. Drip, taste better but didnt fix problem. Nothing was changed when this happened. Have auto battary so doesnt get to hot or dry out. Im reading atty tech forums now but on page 4 of 46 so thought maybe someone can help. After all of the reading I've done on what, what not to do, I never thought I would have had this problem. Thought, oh they must be doing something wrong but here I am. Please help. I don't want to be blowing through attys since they are finicy as they are. I have an ego.

The only things I can think of are that the poly isn't wicking properly. Or since you are using auto it is going off when you are not looking and drying out.

I have a clear case for my stuff and every now and then I will look over and see a glowing red light in there for no particular reason.

Have you tried Blue foam? Seems to wick better at least for me.

The coil is most likely gunked-up (for lack of a better term). What juices are you using? Some tend to gunk-up atty's more than others.

I clean my atty's out every night by running them under hot water for a few minutes. I then do a 12 second dry-burn while blowing into it, an then a series of four 6-second dry burns (with time in between so it doesn't overheat), or until the coil glows nice and red. Then I prime the bridge with 6 drops of liquid, and start vaping.

You obviously need a manual battery to do the dry-burns, so if you don't have one, just let the atty dry out overnight in a place where there's a lot of airflow.

There's also a YouTube video on cleaning your atty's with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), but I tried that and found it completely dried them out to the point where I needed to break them in for half a day before they were functioning properly. Not worth it, IMHO.

Don't worry about a manual battery overheating your atomizer. If you're worried about it firing when you don't want it to, just get a button cover that most eGo retailers sell. Or, get a Riva, which has a 12-second cut-off.

Hope this helps!

I haven't done any cleaning yet. Was hoping that could be weekly. I'm going to do this now. Its important for me to learn and make this work because I really felt good about myself when I smoked 3 analogs all day on day 2 of vaping. I can really see myself quiting and I ned to. For myself and for my family.

It's all about learning and finding what works best for you. Everyone uses different juices and vapes differently, so you will eventually find your 'sweet spot'. For me, it's cleaning my atty's out every day with hot tap water and doing a series of dry-burns. I've been using the same atomizer for 3 weeks with no issues when I clean it this way.

I know that some people advise against dry-burning because they say that it affects the life of your atty, but I've killed more by allowing them to get gunked-up and/or flooded. And it's funny, every night at about the same time, my atty starts to taste nasty. That's why I'm guessing that being 'gunked-up' is your atty's issue.

You'll get there! Like I said, it's a learning experience. Don't give up!

I loaded another prefilled cart to atty and all taste is back in full force. The white wic material doing smelled a bit rank. I noticed this yesturday aswell when filling it. Doesn't appear to be burnt. I'm thinking some sediment collects that doesn't like to be burned. I'm using the dew flavor from cignot. Well I have the blue ones coming in. I'll just have to remember to clean the filler as well as atty. Thanks for the quick responses. Nice to know help is there.

It sounds like the fibers burned in your atty's bridge. It happens when the liquid in the cart doesn't wick to the bridge resulting in a dry vape and burnt taste.

This won't fix it back to like-new, but it might help in figuring out what went wrong. Just keep in mind that once you remove the fibers the atomizer becomes a DRIP only atty. If you remove the fibers, then clean the atty, drip it until it's good and wet and the bad taste goes away then the problem was one of proper wicking.

Good luck.

I dont know what attys your using(510,901....) or which brand(Joye, Bauway...) But I have recently had a few atty from various places that tasted like utter crap about 7 hours after starting to use them. I only drip and I know how to tell when to redrip. The taste is very similar to having a burnt atty, but I know they were not burned. I was kind of fed up, so I ordered some from my two most trusted atty sources, and what do you know, no more bad taste, even after using them for 2+ days. I think there is a slight funk going around in the materials used in some attys as of late.

I do a rubbing alcohol clean for 20 minutes every other day. I have my original atomizer (now 2 months old) still in use. It's a workhorse. Just a 510 that came with my original kit but vapes like it was new. I use it everyday. I want to see how long it lasts.

Just a note: When you use alcohol and after it has dried overnight, do a dry burn on it. Usually once is enough. It removes any leftover funky taste.
