This is a quick question - is it expected for the atty resistance to suddenly drop? What would cause that?

I have an atomizer that was rated at 3.0 Ohm, metered 3.0 Ohm on my ProVari and behaved like one. After a few days, suddenly I got E1 error as I was vaping around 5 V. I checked the resistance and it said 1.9 Ohm. I waited a bit for it to cook down, and it still read 2.1 Ohm. Now it actually vapes like a 2.1 Ohm - it gets hot / burns flavor at higher voltages. What gives?

Sounds like something is making contact that shouldn't.

I'd toss that atty. But that's just me.

Yep, something shorted against the coil or two of the wraps of coil touched. I've seen that latter happen with CE2s sometimes. A couple of the wraps will be very close together and as the metal of the coil expands while heating they suddenly came close enough to touch and shorted, so it's certainly a possibility.
