I was just noticing this exact thing this afternoon, took out the stainless joye 510 that has been in my UFS for a few weeks now, and this same melting plastic material is peeling off the outside of it. Did the scrape test on the other three I bought- same thing as Zor's pic above..Yuck, I thought I was noticing an odd taste...

@ Blackwater--My IKV, Vapage hybrid and Avid attys don't have this coating from what I can tell, though, just metal.

Edit: Dropped in the word "UFS" in place of "iAtty"...wow, must've been reeealy tired..

Jesus!
Just when I thought everything was good. What to do, what to do. I'm defiantly stopping Joye purchases until I can get an answer. Sorry Joye or whoever manufactures them but this is unacceptable. Nasty sh#te.

Anyone else with a solution? Joyes have got the QC right except for this huge huge mistake.

Someone please tell me that is a typo about a 510 atty being used in an iAtty before I start flogging myself with a tire iron. If I have been looking for weeks and weeks for a GG product that will allow the use of regular attys or cartos and if it can be done with the iAtty, the loud scream you hear will be from the South Eastern USA.

The only reason I had to not go with one is due to my dexterity issues from my disability making coil making impossible for me. Anyway, better late than never if so. As always thanks for any feedback to the dull and unenlightened.

P.S. Sorry for hijacking the thread for a senile post but I have to know.

Hi,
I tried a COV Hybrid but the notched base seemed to let the vacuum seal break and all the juice would run out. Never heard of Avid attys. Hoe is the
QC on these?

Thanks,

Chris

Really bummed out. Boiled 10 Joye 510 attys from Vapor King and all had pealing plastic after boiling for 3 minutes. How has this never been discovered before? This is why my juice tastes nasty after a while.

Thanks Zor.
I asked on their forum if anyone else had noticed this as well but no one has responded either way.

Hey Pain,
Any thoughts on it being lacquer instead of plastic? I grew up working in a lamp factory that my parents owned and we would dip our stainless and brass pieces in lacquer to prevent tarnishing and pitting of the shiny parts of the fixtures.

Thanks,

Chria

Yes might be lacquer to prevent tarnish. I soak my new atty in hot water and the thin lacquer came off too. Once the lacquer came off, my colored coat atty wear off too and became stainless in color.

Those are the ones we are talking about. Take a razor blade and scrape down the side of one of them and see if t scrapes a clear layer off.

VK Joye SS 510 LR atties

I only buy the SS atty's and my VK ss 1.5 lr's work very nice in the UFS. I bought a bunch off the classys here and love them.

The exact same ones Silentt. I wish it weren't true but look at the pics. Once I spent an hour soaking and scraping the Lacquer of of them they go and go and don't make my juice taste bad after a while.
