Attys with no cartridge?

Ok, so got my first atomizer with my new ego twist today, but I didn't order any cartridges. I just wanted to make sure I can use the Atty on it's own or do I need the cartridge?

A drip tip will help, make it more comfortable....

wait a minute... i just got my lavatube the other day and it came with 2 attys but no cartridges as well, i had no idea you could use them without the carts and with just a drip tip. now i am so excited to get off work and try them out. i have never used an attomizer before. only cartomizers, clearos, and tanks.
