I've been looking around for batteries and noticed that the AW IMR 18490's from different sites have different max. continuous discharge rates at 8C and 15C. What do these mean? I read somewhere that the higher the rating the longer the battery will last. Is that true?

I don't know. But 15C sounds kinda High.

The "C" rating relates to the Maximum discharge Rate in Amps. And doesn't necessarily mean that a Battery will last longer.

If you draw more amps than a 8C battery can handle, or Any C Value, the battery isn't going to last very long. But if the Amp draw is below what an 8C can handle, than both a 8C and a 15C should last the same amount of time on average.

If you mean time between charging, the C Rating isn't very meaningful. More mAh is what determines how much a battery can store.
