Just ordered my reo grand and now I need to find batteries. I 99.9% sure there is no Canadian supplier.

I've been told Oveready and Lighthound are two great sources. I'm not sure which one has faster shipping. Anyone have any experience with either? My grand should be here by the end of next week if I'm lucky, I just don't want to be waiting three weeks for a battery.

Welcome ichrono21!

Unfortunately, Jack at Happy Vaper does not have an AW IMR 18650. He has an AW 18650, with a 2600 mAh rating...the black & silver one, for $24...or a 2900 mAh one for $30. But these are protected Li-Ion batteries, not IMR high-drain ones.

Happy Vaper - AW 18650 Protected 2600mAh Battery

IMR batteries don't have protection because they don't need it: they're safe-chemistry batts. Conversely, Li-Ion batts aren't safe-chemistry, so it's always wise to get protected ones when you go that route.

It's a safe bet that Jack will eventually have AW IMR 18650s, since he already has the AW IMR 18490 batts, 1100 mAh...the red ones, for $15. I love these since they're what I use in my ProVari. But for now, he doesn't have the IMR batt you're looking for.

---

I did see several threads where people were comparing the use of IMR vs protected Li-Ion in the Reo...and the general consensus seems to be that while the 18650 protected Li-Ion batts are a bit of a tight fit in a Reo, they otherwise work great. So if you go for the $30 one that Jack has, it should be fine...at the very least, to tide you over while you wait for the IMR batts from somewhere farther away. I'd suggest ProVape for IMR 18650s, they're only $12 each. 1600 mAh.

You're in Toronto - so yay. That means an order from Jack will be fast. I'm in Toronto too, & when I order from Jack on a Monday, it's here by Wednesday. (Mind you, that was prior to the postal lockout...so it might take a bit longer now. But still, Jack is fast. You won't be waiting for a week, much less weeks.)

Hope that helps! Happy vaping & welcome again to the forum.

Any other Canadian vendor sell protected 18650 batteries? A 45% mark up is really a tough pill to swallow. I need an 18650 asap, but just can't quite bring myself to spend that much on a battery, especially when they sell for $15.99 just about everywhere else.

Not a Canadian vendor but you can check here.

I ordered from rtd today for a new reo lol.. Had everything in stock, good price, only charged 4.50 for shipping, and apparently he ships quick. Very happy!

You got a Reo?! LOL.. I won't say that I told you so.. but I told you so! What did you get? :)

Hey dusty! Yeah you told me, but it wasn't until I found the 5v batteries when I fell in love lol..

I bought the zebra woodvil from this thread!

You do realize now if I don't like it, I'll blame you!

5v, huh?! What atties are you planning on using with it? I've never liked venturing to high voltages, as it affects the heat output and overall changes the "flavour" of the juice. Not sure how picky you are about that, but keep it in mind.

I use all my stuff around the 3.7v range, with 1.8ohm atties. I would ideally prefer 2.0ohm atties, but all the ones I've tried so far have sucked including the ones from Cisco and Ikenvape. 1.8's seem to be a happy place. Not as hot as 1.5 and not as sucky as 2.0 and SR's.

Yeah well my time spent with the Darwin has me accustomed to the higher voltage now. Bi run my 808 cartos on the Darwin around 4.5v, so I figure I could run then on the reo with the 4.8v batteries I bought. There's an interesting 5v thread in the reo forum. I do have some 18650's on the way as well, and a couple of LR 510's to try. I don't have the reo or the batts yt so it's a work in progress.

Do you like that woodvil though?

It looks nice enough I guess, but i'm not the one to ask about wood mods. I prefer mine to be almost indestructible (Reo Grand and Omega) fully mechanical mods. I would be worried with the wood ones, one drop and broke issue. ;)

You coming to the meet tonight?

Yeah I agree about the indestructible factor, but the wood is beautiful. If I find it looks too wimpy to take my abuse I may flip it down the road, but for now I'm excited! It's carved out of a solid chunk of wood, so I'm pretty sure I'd have to smash the hell out of it for it to break.

I bought a bunch of those 5v batts, so next time I see you you're welcome to try it out.

I'm going to try to make it tonight, but I spent too much money already this weekend, the Darwin is in for warranty work, and haven't received the reo yet.. Won't be much of a show and tell haha, but if I get off work early enough I'll come down for sure dude!
