So yesterday I went to a local place for a coil (Kanger ProTankII) and it worked out really well. What I thought was going to be in and out turned into a 3 1/2 hour hang out with the owner. Luckily I stayed behind because I learned quite a few things from the gentleman that just reading wasn't helping me with. I now know the difference between PG and VG because a "friend" told me not to worry about it when I originally asked them... When in fact it was apparently I needed to know because I learned yesterday thanks to this forum and the B&M owner that I may actually be having an allergic reaction to the PG (scratchy throat, burning feeling). How about that? I also found out I can put a subohm or a good high quality tank on a dripper if I wanted to as opposed to building my own coils right away and dealing with ohms and ohms law so soon. I know that it wouldn't have the same effect completely but I would still be experiencing something similar to the dripper effects if I chose to. How has your local b&m helped you or has found online helped you more so?

Welcome to the forum. I don't have a B&M in my area. But I was out of town and stopped in The Planet Vape in Charleston South Carolina to get some juice for my eGo. The owner and I started talking and I ended up with a Vision Spinner 2 and a SMOK Dripping RDA. He sat down and taught me how to build coils and test resistance and everything. Great people there. Now I wish I lived closer to them.

The place I go is kind of split... I get great advise from about two people there and then the rest well its mixed and sometimes I know for the fact that it is the wrong advice however I do go every Friday and purchase juice and usually some kind of hardware and I dont mind paying the extra. Its a really busy place and great place to be all vape social and recently they have been taking out full page adds in the VPR magazine which I think is cool as hell... the place is always packed with people so its just kind of cool to hang out with other vapors and talk .....

Ive been going to my local shop for over 4 years and now i only buy juice from them. When i first started going there they were a lil hole in the wall that not many people knew about and they were great, shared all their knowledge with me and sat with me at their vape bar and helped me pick a great 1st juice, now they have moved to a mega store and the service isnt as good as it used to be as they have grown so much but i will probably always pick up juice from them as they saved me tons of money early on by just caring enough to make sure i was completely satisfied and not returning to analogs.

That's great! I agree with FrenchFry about the cost but in a way I think at first trying out the equipment there and feeling everything out first hand is a great step to go before buying online unless of course you have more in depth information whereas someone like me is very visual first then I retort to online buying and what not. The B&M I went to are gong to be having classes on building coils, battery safety, ohms law and whatnot which I find really neat. Very one of a kind place compared to some others I've been in around me.

I would probably still be smoking if I hadn't wandered into the shop in town. Cost me more for the gear and juice to get started than what I might have spent on the internet, but having someone walk me through it and point me in the right direction made a huge difference in my confidence for that first step. I wouldn't change a thing.
Thanks Rachel!!! Hope you're reading.

That's really disappointing to hear :( Personally I really much like going in there physically and looking at everything first hand and trying out the flavors before I start buying anything. It's fun to go in there and socialize and get visuals and first hand information and help with the terminology of it all. Come to New England I'll take you to the one I went to yesterday!

I just re-read my post and it sounds...grim. Obviously it was a bad experience. But there are many like it.

I do appreciate stopping by B&Ms for juice testing. We don't really have any quality ones local, so it is when I travel and have 2-3 hours to blow.

I don't consider the hardware, but I like to test juice and socialize. I figure I can test 20 juices and buy 2. I record them and where I got them.

That, I appreciate. Just stopping in and sitting at the bar with nice people.

Passwords? There are places that require a password? That's hogwash!

I'm old school and like to "touch" something before I buy. I also appreciate a business employing locals and supporting the local tax base. So my first stop is my "local" (about 100 miles) B&M.

Having said that, I do check online prices and give them the opportunity to at least approach the online price which they usually can get close enough for me. At least close enough that I feel good about supporting my local economy and having a great place to taste, get good info/advice, and shoot the breeze.

Could I save a few bucks? Absolutely! But I would really hate to have to rely solely on online shopping for my equipment and juice.

I go to a little place in Regina here called VapeVine Vapes. The staff is awesome. From making sure you get what's right for you and not what costs a lot to helping you with any problems you have with your equipment. They'll take the time to sit down with you and make sure you know everything there is to know about whatever piece of equipment you have. They've even pulled some spare parts off of their personal stuff to help me out in a pinch. They also provide a comfortable environment to hang around with fellow vapers. They have a sample bar and the biggest selection of juice in the city. The prices for equipment are a little steep, but I'm willing to pay more to deal with them in person knowing that they'll back up what they sell. Basically every time I'm in there they'll make sure I leave happy. And I don't think I've encountered a store that sells anything, never mind vaping stuff, that I can say that about. And I can't say that about the other two shops in the city I've been to. But in all fairness I've only been to Vapor Jedi once and they seem to have their .... together as well. The third place though... well. I'll just leave it at that. They're the guys that make the Cola Bottles flavor that I really like but stopped using because every time I did anything silicon, like the o-rings and grommets on the coils would swell to ten times their normal size within an hour. Safe to say, I'll stick with the other two stores for juice, the one store for hardware, and everything else from reputable websites.

I try to buy something at any B & M I visit to show some support but it seems that every time I visit, it just re enforces the fact that I need to keep a well stocked juice cabinet from online dealers. Prices at the B & M's here in paradise are just crazy, sometimes more than double the online prices.

Oh my God, you have been "vaping" for the last 4 years ? I am in shock !!!!

I started vaping a couple of days ago in order to stop smoking. Never thought i would have to vap for the rest of my life. Reading your post has just totally discouraged me.

Sorry! nothing personal.
....vape as long as you want to... for many of us it's turned from a stop smoking thing into a hobby. Every single one of your posts say this exact same thing, I'm beginning to smell a troll...
