Okay...all I know is it's 26gauge clapton with 32 gauge kanthal..

Ok, I build with 28/26 gauge claptons depending on my mood at the time. 28 gague is not that difficult, just dont force too much cotton in to where it deforms. 24 gauge and lower is pretty tough, but I still wouldn't stuff too much cotton through the coils.. more cotton = less room for the juice, so, less cotton = more wicking.

Now, as far as your original post, my first yellow flag is the 3.0mm post that you are wrapping your coils around. The coil cannot touch the posts, deck, or the sides of the chamber. That is the most common mistake, especially when building around a large post. I think the Baby beast can take that large of a coil, but it will be a tight fit... especially if it's a clapton., which take up more RBA room due to it being three wires thick on each end.

Something to not that might explain your intermittent problems, is as kanthal heats up, it actually expands just a bit. That could cause intermittent touching of the posts/sidewalls.

To test, Just put the deck on your mod, remove the cotton and dry fire it until it glows. pulse it quick to see if one area is hotter than the other. IF pulsing works, pulse it longer until it glows. It should glow from the inside out, and not glow anywhere else first. If it does glow somewhere else, then it's probably shorting against the RBA deck itself. If you want to test to see if it's touching the side walls, then keep the cotton off, put on the deck walls, and try reading the ohms to see if it's changed. Pulse it and repeat the above process to see if anything changes with the side wall.

Hope this helps.

2mm is kind of small for me, but good on others. It's kind of like a catch 22. The diameter also measures how much juice gets to the coils. I like a 2.5mm.

But as I said, others have used a 3mm. Just make sure there's clearance between the coil and the sides of the cap, deck, and posts.

One last note, is also make sure the leads that come out on the other side of the posts aren't touching anything. Try to clip those as close to the posts as possible.

I just ordered the RBA coil for the Baby Beast. Happened across this video on YouTube.

It is titled "SMOK BABY AND BIG BABY BEAST RBA FIX....MUST WATCH" So, even though I don't even have mine yet, I watched the video. Your jumping ohms reading is common, and it's from loose center pin.

I saw that today too..very helpful..thank you
