Yes, same problems with both, but:

Were you going thru substantially more juice with these tanks previously? Or with other tanks? In other words, is this new to the tanks, or they're just not lasting as long as your other ones?

Ok this is the story:

I started vaping a year ago and did so with a pen style vape, by Joyetech. That tiny coil would last me one or two weeks depending on how much I vaped.

Then in December I bought my Reuleaux rx Gen3 Dual. I had the same problem with the coils that came within the box. They lasted literally a few hours, never even full 24 hours. I bought more coils and the same happened. That’s when I decided to buy an RTA a week later. If I wicked it correctly I was able to get a good vape. But again, I’d get that burnt feel within one day or two if I was lucky. Now it’s kinda worse.

Uh-oh. Sounds like you have my affliction...too sensitive, and love a fresh coil! I wish I could help more, Pat, and maybe/hopefully someone else can. But from what you're saying, it sounds to me like you just need fresh coils. Especially with the higher wattage devices, since that's when the issue started. Meaning drop-ins probably won't make much sense for you. With an RTA, you can eliminate a total rebuild, but probably better with Kanthal. My SS doesn't taste too great, or last long after dry-firing.

So after being extremely busy with work for the last couple of weeks, I come back to y’all as frustrated as ever.

I’ve been using my Zeus Dual RTA and my Gnome King atomizer by Wismec. Both are giving me the same issue.

On the RTA, I can fill it twice - around 10ml or so of e-liquid - before feeling that burnt taste and awful throat hit. On the Atomizer, it’s pretty much the same. Filling twice or having around 160 puffs will give me a burnt feeling. It doesn’t matter what type of juice I’m using. Whether pg/vg ratio or type of flavor.

Guys, I don’t have much money to spend so I’m not looking forward to spending more money at this point. I’d like some advice to try and fix my problem or help me see what I’m doing wrong. I know it’s not normal for a drop in coil to last only literally one day. As to the RTA, idk if it’s normal to have to clean and rewick every one or two days, specially after only going through 10ml of juice or so.

On the Zeus RTA you can try trimming the wick a little diagonally. What I mean is for each wick end, cut it diagonally from the outer end toward the coil. So that you aren't making it shorter, just a tiny bit thinner. This should allow more juice to the coil and reduce the chance of a dry hit. Just be aware if you cut too much it could leak. I hope this makes sense.

You could also have your friend rebuild that as a single coil which would use less power and be less prone to clogging up the juice flow.

On the Gnome King, you might try repriming the coil each time you refill it. Yes that is a bit of a pain but it might help. Also NEVER let the juice level get low enough to expose the cotton on the sides of the coil to air. That could lead to the coil becoming unprimed and give dry hits.

That's weird. My last SS coil lasted at least 6 months with weekly wick changes and cleanings including dry burns. I just use simple 26ga single strand round wire though. Really it still "worked" when I replaced it, but performance was degrading. Also there are a lot of different SS types, I specifically use SS316L. Maybe that could be a difference.

@Brewdawg1181 I don’t know if I just like fresh coils. Like I’m okay with a slightly different taste... but when it makes my throat itch and burn I doubt that’s normal lol

@greek mule w=wattage, v=voltage but what does the R stand for? Resistance? Sorry :(

@ScottP i was just about to ask about that last thing you mentioned. I think you just solved my problem. I’ve been using up all my juice when I use drop ins. Maybe that’s what’s causing them to burn so quickly. So if I want to change flavors I basically need to get rid of the leftover juice?

Yes vaping it too low will cause problems. Yes to change flavors you are going to have to dump a little out. That low in the tank it's not going to be much though. There is very little space between the coil and the glass, so the quantity looks like more than it is. The tanks hold the bulk of the liquid above the chamber where there is more room.

This is why I tend to find a tank I really really like then buy one for every flavor I keep around to vape. Usually never more than 2 or 3.

Damn that’s kinda a bummer lol it’ll drive me crazy to “waste” juice

Please listen to @ScottP .... His advice is sound and I can think of nothing else that has been causing the complexity of your vaping experience thus far.

Yes I’ll try the @ScottP method :p hopefully it’ll solve my problems. I’ll send him Peruvian pisco if it does lol

Good to hear :) I am sure @ScottP is correct..... Doesn't hurt to to try at any rate.... As far as the Peruvian Brandy, well you can send it to me if he doesn't want it ;) ..... On second thought, I make my own wine and have plenty of booze here.... Maybe you better send it to him as I am all stocked up on libations ;)

LOL .. well after all, I only make wine, not harder alcohol such as pisco.... No matter, my wine is good enough for me and will put you on your backside if you drink enough of it (which I often do).... Don't blame any hangovers on me ;)
