After many months of using three different regulated mods, the IPV3 shat itself, the xcube2 forgets to use what normal people would call a 'regulated device', and changed at any given moment what wattage it puts out, while forgetting again, to show what is actually being produced.

So I'm back to an Apollo copper. vape is much more smooth, and I know when I wrap the wire what the ohms will be, so using either a VTC4 or a Samsung LG HG2 I'm golden.

The genius of simplicity, as well as a great vape, what more could one want ;)

How true.
I mean people talk smack about a hybrid mech mod, that's because they have no idea what they are dealing with. And should stay away if not completely understanding, or have some heavy interest in learning the exacts of wattage, resistance, power sag and how the specific device will interpret each value.

It's where we all started after the crappy look alikes first came out.

Hate on me for pushing knowledge I'm good with that.

Having used mech mods for years, it's not difficult to learn those safety aspects. I like the reliability and simplicity of them, but i quite understand people not wanting to go to all that trouble especially if they just want something to press a button on and vape.

They just have to realise that those regulated devices are only as good as the lifespan of the electronics and sadly that means i regard them as almost disposable.

Excellent!

Myself I was not aware just how disposable a ~$100 regulated mod was until recently.

One more 'thing', this is the first time in months I've truly been nicotine satisfied. I've set the thing off to the side for now.

How interesting. No matter the build or wattage, never once did I get that 'welp I don't need that anymore at the moment' , until just now going back to the mech. Makes little sense until I factor in the differences between how the current ends up resonating through the coil, between a chip and a direct connection.

Proves this is not all about heat. At all.

I have to say i love my mechs, use them every day, i dont have to worrie about a chip crapping out on me say in the middle of the day, they are always an easy fix if something goes wrong, and as mentioned befor if you know what your doing coil builds and so on they can be one amazing vape.

That's the thing about some things. The way they do what they do, is almost as important as what they do.
So it is written.

My theory, or at least how I am, is I need a change now and then to stay satisfied. No clue Why, but I suspect many others are the same, we call it "shinyitis," buying new gear hoping it's more satisfying, and then of course it is (unless it's crap), then circle back to the old fave for a while, then circle around some more...

Maybe linked to "vaping fatigue/tongue" also, getting tired of a flavor over time. Not sure how or why, but that's my theory!

I'm a mech person too, though I am happy new people are now able to start out with good quality regulated mods before learning the ins and outs of a mech. The only thing they had when I started were mechs, Vamos or Provari. The Vamo's were cheap so lots of people bought them, including me. I think it last 2 months. I didn't want a Provari because it looked like something a woman would use in private. I have a regulated mod now too but damn, I hate that thing. The only thing I use it for now is burning off gunk and using it for my "testing new flavors" atty. There isn't anything wrong it, I just prefer mechs. Mechs are more like smoking in that they vary through out their battery charge. Some people want absolute consistency but smoking isn't like that.

I think it's people who do know what they are talking about that are talking smack about hybrids but they are really talking smack about them being in the hands of idiots or the uneducated. Giving a new vapor a hybrid mech is the worst choice you can give them as it has the highest chances for disaster.

I think those who know are warning newbies about them, it is the dumb masses who are telling people "your going to shoot your eye out kid!"

As a side note, the Apollo is a pinless topcap mech, if it were hybrid there would be no 510 threading to be found anywhere on the mod.

I'm a confirmed mech head myself, I usually have a prax1s or stingray in my pocket along with a squeeze bottle of juice. I like regulated mods just fine, but the simplicity, reliability, and small form factor of a mech wins out for me. My pocket tube mechs are clones. If I lose one or it is destroyed I'm not out much money. Regulated mods are subject to obsolescence by newer regulated mods. A good mech is timeless and totally future proof in its simplicity.

I should dig a mech out for old times sake. I have a bunch of them but prolly haven't used one in a year.

I like them ok at first. But then the battery starts dying and it changes and drives me nutz. A year ago I was closer to my last smoke and it was a no go. My cigarettes where lovingly produced by the Seneca Nation and pack after pack year after year each one was the same as the one before it. I liked that I could light one off the other (the joke at work was I could get 3 years off a mini Bic) and always have the same experiance. With mechs I would put in a fresh battery and over time it would get weaker and I'd always be staring at it wondering what was wrong until I changed the battery. Rinse and repeat all day. First tube modz then Reo's fell by the wayside.

But I should try a mech again because they were cute simple little things. And honestly these days I vape to vape with no real thoughts based on smoking anymore. These days if the battery got weak and it annoyed me I'd just set it aside and not vape until I got to a battery. Not a tube mod though. I don't think I could go back that far. Maybe a Reo. With todays top fill I'm not sure I could go back to filling that little bottle again. Have to see.
