Okay, I went through a few pages in this catagory & didn't find my answer so I'm asking for myself:) Please forgive me if this has been brought up countless times already!

I'm wondering if it is possible for bacteria to grow in the delivery device/ wicks due to having e-liquid in them over too long a period of time? What would be considered too long? And will a vodka cleansing kill any bacteria? I used one clearomizer for a month before I realized it, it tasted fine, worked fine & always had the same fluid in it so I just didn't think:blink:

Oh, why I'm asking is I've started recently having severe mouth pain after vaping for 3 months.

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

PG is a decent germicide so - if your liquid has that then it's very unlikely anything nasty could grow on your wicks and coils. Perhaps there is a superbug that likes pg and vg and temperatures that range so vastly when you fire the device, but i doubt it.

If you treat your devices like coffee cups then you can't go far wrong, rinse in hot water now and then and don't put the fluffy drip tip in your mouth!

Firstly I'd like to see positive proof that bacteria can grow in eLiquid, I'm sure there can be several ways of testing the various ways this might happen. Ex: a full device left unattended for a period of time or a half tank left and not maintained or a partially cleaned device left sitting around to be used later etc etc etc.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

    +1

I would think that any such mouth pain would mean I'm going to the doctor/dentist asap.

Yes, there is a possibility that bacteria could grow but, how long do you let stuff set in a tank and, how often do you clean and dry your stuff out?

That particular clearo I used for at least a month, I did rinse it a couple of times. It has been pitched out!
On my way to DR tmr, Monday :) Thanks!

and don't put the fluffy drip tip in your mouth!

Showing my ignorance here:laugh: What's a "fluffy" drip tip?

Dale, are you vaping Amaretto or Caramel Apple? They were both fine for me at first, then my mouth became EXTREMELY red and inflamed. I'm no medical professional but think of it like eating one jolly rancher after another, after another....

I think if you're in sever pain, by ALL means, go to the Dr. though.

......so sweets, what are you vaping??

Hey Lori :) Remember I dropped all the fruit & amaretto two weeks ago, but it's gotten progressively worse :( I completely stopped vaping last week & it's still pretty bad...sigh ... really missin' the vape!

What about the vodka anybody??? Will a good soak kill bacteria?

    Yes, Vodka kills critters.

See what the Dr. says, but I think that it's more likely a sensitivity issue, flavorings, or poss. pg. Just my two cents, but I'd bet is more that than a bacterial issue. I had switched to almost all VG blends for e-liquid and nothing with any sourness to it. But I'm going to say that it took my mouth a good 6 weeks to heal.

I only say that because that's exactly what I went through.

PG is antibacterial. Some have sensitivity to it tho. I'd say you're sensitive to the PG or some flavoring. Have you drank water regularly??

Oh lord yes! We're all complaining about having to "pee" so much!

Maybe I should add that I did buy a cherry from Mr Vape 10/90 but could not get it vapable; loooooooong steep, poured it in a bowl, the whole nine yards. Finally recapped it & threw it in a drawer; maybe try it next year!

Is there another vendor anyone knows that I might have better luck with? For the vg mix that is?

.......:lol:...you beat me to it...I was just coming back to add that water is a MUST....

Dale, have you tried MBV Sticky Bun. I got it Max VG. Plus 2 shots, but one would prob be okay. No issue at all with it. Their Cin. Roll will scratch my throat if I vape it too long, but it's very good too.

You could try something blander, or no flavored too. At least that would keep you off the stinkies....

:( I don't like cinnamon flavors Lori :( I am thinking about ordering the unflavored in 100% vg ... sigh, I really miss vaping & I have soooo much juice staring me in the face! :p

I know. But still better than stinkies. Try to pick out something bland. The Sticky Bun has very, very, little Cin. taste. They also have a Butter Toffee that is pretty good. I've not really vaped it alone, but with the Sticky Bun.
