Bad Battery?

Is it possible for a battery to vent and still have 3.85 volts. One of my wife's egos just had that oh crap smell so I pulled it apart and the electronic set is burnt but the battery still has good voltage. I have new ego electronic sets I can use to replace the burnt one, just not sure about the battery. Is there a safe way to check out this battery or should just use the rest of this stuff in a mod?

Overheating one of the 2 Mosfets (3 pin chips on back of the board) is a common failure mode. You could temporarily wire up the battery to the new board and charge it. Then vape on it. The battery is probably good, but this is an opportunity to get the wife another one and keep quite about the mod parts

Thanks Rocket, i will give it a try. My wife is hard on this stuff and if I can throw in a new elec set and give it back to her I can get back to creating.
