My worst symptom since starting with my 510 is that by the end of the day I feel more and more bloated.
]
It's so bad and so uncomfortable that it's almost making me want to quit the e cigarettes. First I thought it was shortness of breath - but I don't think it is I think it's bloating ( and this bloating makes me feel like I'm short of breath - )
If I could just minimize the bloating it would make all the difference.

I was reading that drinking repeatedly through a straw is one of the worst culprits for causing execess abdominal bloating and it struck me that sucking the tip is exactly like sucking through a straw!

I was thinking if the e cig had a filter instead of just sucking on air and vapor (like a real cigarette) would that cut down on air sucked into the stomach? I've tried sucking as gently as possible each time I vape but it's not helping.

Anybody have this horrible problem when they first started out and found a solution they could share?

I felt bloated after giving up the analogs for the ecigs too. I drink a lot more fluids with the ecigs as they tend to dry out my mouth and sinuses, and I wondered if it's a fluid retention problem.

Are you drinking more and if so, have you tried any vitamins or supplements that would help with fluid retention?

Water & Fluid Retention: What are the Causes?

Potassium - One of the three major electrolytes in your body which may be helpful for edema by regulating the flow of fluids into and out of your tissues and cells.
Uva Ursi Ext. - Has been used worldwide as a diuretic while also supporting the kidneys and urinary tract.
Dandelion Ext. - Has diuretic properties that may be helpful with edema. It is one of the few diuretics that do not create a potassium deficiency.
Horse Chestnut - Studies report that horse chestnut may be able to reduce leakage of fluids from the capillaries caused by edema while promoting overall circulatory health.
Buchu Ext. - A mild diuretic.

I did end up swallowing some juice when I first started and yes it reminded me of that horrible acidic burning feeling that you get in your stomach from chewing nicorette gum - that is more of an indigestion feeling though. So I don't think it's that - this is definitely bloating from air/gas.

I use VG 24-36mg.

I'm pretty sure it's due to gulping too much air because I have had the same problem when I chewed gum all the time (on a previous quit). Also, occasionally if I'm anxious or stressed/busy I gulp too much air and I get the same terrible bloated feeling. So I'm very familiar with this excess bloating feeling that I'm having - but this is really bad and every day.

I've tried taking GAS X - but that doesn't help at all.

I still think it's due to the amount of air being sucked in through the e-cig - but if things don't change I'll try some PG and see what happens I'll also be more careful about wiping off any ejuice spills.

Not sure about fluid retention - However starting today I've been having my ecig smoke WITH a drink of coffee or tea/water at the same time. I figure that make help dislodge any air that I'm swallowing more quickly.

Thanks.

Instead of smoking your vapor, try to vape it.

Slowly and gently draw the vapor into your mouth. Then open your mouth and inhale.

You can breathe normally while drawing it into your mouth and it is more difficult to swallow with your mouth open.

Meanwhile keep a close eye on your symptoms to make sure it is not an alergic reaction.

I have had some bloating. I also have indigestion pretty bad. I know its from vaping because I rarely had it before. I just take Maalox and it subsides pretty fast. I was having nose bleeds pretty regularily but now they have stopped. The Maalox also helps with the bloating. I would not let this stop me from vaping because otherwise my health has improved 100%.

Thank you hoosier - it's nice to have a precise description of how I SHOULD be inhaling. I'm going to pay close attention today and make sure I'm not doing my usual 'frantic' smoking action! I really need to slow...it...down...

I think I need to stop the 'absent minded' type vaping (usually when I'm in the car) - I think then I'm puffing on it like a cigarette there and probably gulping too much air.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again all for the thoughts and ideas.

Since I quit the analogs and just vape all kinds of strange things happened like that, dry mouth, gas, scratchy throat and tongue, etc. They all seemed to pass after a week or so, except for dry mouth, but a drink is always around. The good made up for it all. I can smell again (and I don't smell from Cigs), I don't cough morning, noon and night, and the list goes on. These are one of the greatest things ever made.
Good luck .... Yes, E-liquid is one of the nastiest tasting substance known.

Ok so I've had a revelation.

After vaping ever so carefully yesterday and only vaping when I wanted a cigarette my bloated feeling was still pretty bad by the end of the day.

I suddenly thought I'd try my son's albuterol inhaler (he has excercise asthma)

And WOW! suddenly that bloated sensation completely went away - I could breathe - it felt fantastic! (so it wasn't 'bloatedness' after all it was not being able to breathe that was causing the discomfort.

I have never been asthmatic I have never felt any effect from inhalers before in my life but this effect was dramatic.8-o I remember once (ages ago) I had a really bad chest cold and I thought I'd try my son's inhaler to see if it would help me breathe better. Nothing. didn't feel any different at all.

What the heck is going on? Do I need to take asthma medications to continue to esmoke!. I know absolutely nothing about asthma and why this inhaler would have had such a dramatic effect on my breathing.

Hmm Maybe see your Doctor about that. Another thought is did quit anologs all together too? Maybe your lungs are healing? Maybe your having a reaction to the juice your vaping
Tara

Hi, MsSki,
Re the juice - that's what I'm trying to figure out. I have 10 different kinds of VG sample bottles from American E Liquid Store and 2 30ml bottles of what I think is Dekang juice (???) which I got from E Cig Express when I first ordered my 510. (one capuccino and one USA mix - both 24mg)

I've been smoking about 4 analogs a day while vaping. But when the breathing problems got really bad I gave the vaping a break and then smoked about 10 in one day. So no I'm not completely off the analogs (hoping to be though!)

Problem is with the Dekang it doesn't say whether it's PG or VG. There's absolutely nothing on the label to indicate it. The cap has the letters YNDK but that's it. How can I find out? I was thinking of ordering some PG but maybe I've already been vaping PG? But I hardly vape these YNDK bottles because I don't care for the flavor too much.

Or maybe it's a problem with the flavorings? Sorry for so many questions - has anybody seen any good threads discussing juices and flavorings that don't seem to act as "irritants" as much as others and therefore don't cause asthma symptoms?

Thanks all for any help!

I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but it sounds like an alergic reaction to me or at least an inflammatory response.

The DeKang is probably PG.

If I were you, I would try just PG or just VG and force myself to drink plain water the whole vaping period.

See if you can narrow it down to a trigger and water to keep the internal organs flushed. I am not sure what asthma treatment you used, but I remember one of my son's treatment had steriods to halt the inflammation and something to relieve the allergic response.

I would highly recommend speaking with your doctor over anything else. It seems something is reacting in your body.

Thanks. I've sent a message to E cig Express to be certain.

Yes this is what I'm going to do.
Does anyone know if there are any flavors that are notorious for bad reactions?

I know. You're right - I guess I'm just afraid he's gonna tell me to stop vaping!:(

It IS possible youre allergic, and you might be allergic to VG and not PG at all. Some people find VG gives them a response that's akin to what has been reported with PG sensitives. You might want to experiment trying all VG one day, then all PG another day and see what happens, then again you may decide its too dicey to self-experiment. Your call on that one.
Also you could be allergic to both - true allergy is rare (more commonly people are sensitive, not allergic, to things) but anyone with asthma in the family needs to be aware they might have true allergy tendencies too.
There is a carrier called PEG that seems to bypass allergic responses in people who are sensitive to both PG and VG.
I hope you get it all sorted out - for sure tobacco cigs aren't going to do you any favors but having smoked so long you are probably DE-sensitised to the effects (as far as this bloating thing) in the chemicals they contain (although if you can give them up completely that won't last)

I've been vaping for a while now and I still have some strange things going on. Bloating, sore lungs, dry scratchy throat, morning phlegm like I did from analogs and constipation.

I'm seriously thinking about going back to analogs or dishing out the big $$$ for nicatrol inhalers.

I've been using PG liquid so I'm going to try VG for a while and see if things change, my supplier just started selling the VG. If that don't work I'll have stop vaping.
