Bad luck with 901 atty?

I've ordered a couple attys for my 901 (one recently, one a while back) and they've both been kind of blah. Poor vapor production and flavor with next to no life span. Now, these are the newer style ones, so maybe it's just how it is with them. I keep having to go back to an older style atty that is well past its prime. Is this a case of the new models being inferior to the old, or am I just having bad luck?

the new one with the washer are suppose to give more protection to the auto batteries, I was shock at the very beginning when I got them, after a few days they are wonderfull, remember and used atty could work better than a new one,

The new ones are very fickle, work fine one minute and hardly at all the next. I tend to flood them often cuz I think it needs more juice, when actually it is drowning in it. So they need to be blown out fairly often. I also find they work best if you use a super light draw on it.
