Bartleby Questions plus others

Hi,

I just posted a load of questions in the expert forum where KentC gave me a fantastically helpful response. I notice the thread is now closed so I thought I'd ask my additional questions here.

1. The Bartleby link that I was given just connects me to a blog. There's no shopping cart or phone number - how do I order one? LOL.

2. What happens when the Bartleby batteries need recharging? do I need to get 2 Bartlebys or can I vape while it's charging?

3. depending on the answer to question 2 if I can vape when it's charging then it would make sense for me to have a car adapter, a USB adapter and and an AC adapter. i.e. so I can vape in the car, at the computer, and then just plug my charging Bartleby into a wall wherever I am so that I can still vape while it's charging.

4. If the Bartleby is fully charged, is it best to run it down completely before recharging or shall I connect it to a power source where possible to save the battery charge for times when I want to use it as a portable?

5. Do I need to buy the battery itself to go inside the Bartleby?

6. How long will the Bartleby last?

So although the Bartleby seems great obviously it's pretty ugly and being a bit of a girlie girl (sometimes) I would like to have an alternative to vape that looks pretty like my purple Joye510. so I'm thinking I'll get 5 little batteries, 5 mega batteries and a 10 battery charger. then I'll just keep a stash of charged little batteries in a case in my bag when I want to vape on something that doesn't look weird.

KentC also suggest 20 joye510 atomizers - so that makes sense to get those.

Also KentC suggest a pack of 50 fillers and empty carts from heavengifts.

My final question is if I want to dilute some 36mg juice with plain VG (which I have). how do I turn it into 24mg or 30mg using that plain VG. Is it as simple as one part plain VG added to one part 36mg will result in a combined juice with an 18mg value?

So my shopping list is
1 Bartleby
1 Bartleby recharable battery
1 AC adapter/charger for the Bart.
1 USB adapter/charger for the Bart
1 Car adapter/Charger for the Bart
20 Joye510 atomizers
50 fillers
20 empty carts.
5 regular Joye 510 batteries (which will give me 7)
5 Mega Joye 510 batteries
One 10 port Battery charger.
(I have juice)

Am I good to go with the above shopping list? Do I need anything else? Anything I don't need?

I think I can answer some of these questions, anyway.

The Bartleby is a 14500 box mod with USB recharging capability. The 14500 is a far longer-lived batt than even the 510 mega batt, and will give higher wattage and coil voltage to the atty, around 3.6V compared to 3.1V for a regular batt.

You should be able to charge it on any 5V USB source, but you may want to have an external powered USB hub or AC/USB converter to do this, with at least 1 Amp output, otherwise, like other PTs it could overload the onboard USB ports which are usually much lower current rating.

Yes, you can vape while its charging. The USB power, like in a batt-box PT, charges the batt while the atty is powered off the batt. Same idea as a PT.

Li-ion batts like to be topped off, and running them dead will shorten their lives. That said, you should have 100s of recharges in a given batt. And they are not very expensive. I went ahead and ordered an extra pair (total 4 batts) with my order for the Bart. I also have a Li-ion 3.7V batt recharger that I got from DX for $8. You can use it for many Li batts, like the 10440 that 510 PTs use.

They are black. But they are very small, as are most box mods. There are box mods available in various colors, but they do not USB recharge, and do not have LED indicator lights, which are useful. They are $27 for a 510 14500 box mod, and get good reviews. I think the Bart is more solidly made internally, but probably similar. Jay has solved the issue of juice from a leak getting inside and all over the electronics by sealing the electronics in a polymer material.

I don't know about how long the Bart lasts, as my experience is a matter of days. There is a 30 day warranty on it, sometimes longer depending on the problem. That is standard for most PV gear, although some big metal mods, like the Chuck, have much longer warranties. If you are asking how much time you get off a 14500 batt, normal vaping, not chain vaping, 6-8 hours, perhaps. Some get 2 days, but I must vape more often than they do. The batt claiims to be a 900 mAh batt, so if this is true, it will be about 5x a regular batt (160 mAh). How long that actually is depends on how much you push the button, of course.

Your dilution logic is sound. I use Scubabatdan's e-juice calculator fo all my DIYs. See the sticky in the DIY Liquid forum.

Others might have more Bart insights. Its a great little device, very comfortable to use, and vapes far better and longer than a regular or mega batt. Its design is simply that of a 14500 battery box, and is like a nicostick.

I assume you can use a car USB converter to charge the Bart, but haven't tried yet.

Getting extra attys and carts is always a good idea, especially attys. That said, I have an idea that the attys will last longer with the 14500, since a lot of atty death or crippling is from clogging, which is facilitated by lower coil voltage. Of course you always want to avoid drying the atty out. New users also kill attys mercilessly from just fiddling around with them too much. The way to make an atty last IMHO is to have a cart and juice that wicks well, not dark in color (particles, clogging), and try not to clean them too much. I learned this the hard way. But attys are always a bit of a crap shoot, and some just die early, no matter what you do or don't do. Extras are a good idea.

I would add some 14500 batts to your shopping list if you get a Bart or any box mod. They are AA size and you never know if you will be away from a charging source.

1 AC adapter/charger for the Bart.
1 USB adapter/charger for the Bart

Seems they are the same thing. The Bart only charges from USB, not circular AC connector.

Expect after you get the Bart to not use the reg or mega batts a lot. Good for backups though. I like the mega batts more than the reg batts, so I would be getting less regs and more megas, but with the PCC this is a detail.

I know nothing about batteries or power supplies only what I've read here since I started trying to use my Joye 510 on Tuesday.

What I mean is that I don't want to have to keep going to where my PC is to vape. So if I'm upstairs I want to be somehow able to plug the Bart into a wall outlet. Same with the car I want to be able to plug the Bart into the cigarette lighter. That's what I'm trying to say!

If its a standard USB plug then you can get a wall unit (USB/AC wall plug) that will fit any power outlet; if I understood your question correctly
I use USB Dual Power Adapter although it seems they are still sold out But any similar device would also work.

iclavdivs, no problem, glad to help as I can. that was the point I was trying to make: off the USB, with a fully charged batt in the Bart, you should be able to get several hours between charges. The 14500 batt lasts quite long and is overall stronger than the normal 510 batts. But if you wanted to vape while it is plugged in to the USB, you certainly can, as it is a PT. I think for the money, the Bart is a fantastic PV, and Jay is fast about getting them sent out, and is excellent about communicating and making sure you are running properly. With the extra 2 batts, a USB cable, the Bart, and priority mail with tracking (well, sorta), it came to $67 I think. You need to provide your own atty and cart. Oh, and it also has an on/off switch so you can put it in your pocket without it going off by accidentally pressing the button. For many here, it is their favorite mod. I love it! Will probably charge my reg and mega batts and put them into storage, as this little guy will probably be all I need...at least for a while.

I would get one. You will not regret it. Vape on!
