I have used the search function several times to try to find an answer to the above, what are the differences in the two above batteries, which one is better, how do they vary in size, voltage, threads, etc. Finally I've come here to post my question.

Anyone?

Also, is there any site that shows batteries and lists the differences?

Hi.

The Joye 510 battery has a female connector and is compatible with Joye 510 atomizers and cartomizers (or others through an adapter). It operates at 3.2v (regulated). It is available in auto and manual versions. The auto versions have a sound operated switch and have a reputation as being somewhat sensitive and unreliable. They are available in 2 sizes - Standard (180 mah auto/150 mah manual) and Mega (280 mah).

The KR808D-1 battery has a male connector and is compatible with KR808-D1 cartomizers, and DSE901 atomizers (or others through an adapter). The Kanger version operates at 3.7v (some may operate at 3.3v like the version made by Microcig). It is available in auto and manual versions. The auto ones I have used have a vacuum switch, which is not affected by sound and works reasonably well. They are available in three sizes - the std 280 mah, a very long 380 mah XL battery, and a rarer short battery (uncertain on mah).

The "better" one is the one that suits your atomizer/cartomizer (I prefer not to use adapters if possible). They're both perfectly functional batteries.

I don't know the thread sizes and pitches sorry. This web site has a picture comparison of various models, although it looks like it hasn't been updated in a while - E-Cigarette Models

Hope this helps :)

Just a few footnotes to Papa's definitive answer:

  • The 306 atomizer also is fully compatible with the 510 battery.
  • I fully agree with WillyB: The manual version of the Kr8 battery is not as well implemented as the 510's. So, for me, auto Kr8 and manual 510.
  • GreenCig cartomizers also work on Kr8 batteries (automatic only).
  • Don't use LR atomizers on either of these batteries. Such attys need at least 450 mAh (e.g., eGO or Elegant).
If you are asking this question about batteries in order to decide on which e-cig to purchase, I urge you to focus on the atomizers instead. That is, the significant difference between the 510 atty and the Kr8 cartomizer, which I talked about in this comparative review and Mistress Nomad describes and demonstrates in this video.
