Batteries affect burnt flavor?

I have two orange Imren 40 amp batteries in my Sigelei 100 watt box mod with a .4 ohm built on my Big Budhha. I notice whenever I go above 30 watts I notice a burnt taste and see that the wicks are slightly burnt. I've tried every kind of trouble shooting and wicking method and coils builds up to .6 ohms and tried using my stillare rda with similiar builds but still get the burnt taste. I'm starting to think this burning is caused by the batteries but I'm not sure how?

It's basically a big Kayfun, right? If you're not a wicking pro, Kayfuns get burnt pretty quickly at even 20 watts. Unless it's far airier than the a standard Kayfun, I don't think it's really meant to see that many watts. Of course, anything is possible if you modify it. Either way, the batteries themselves will have no bearing on whether you're getting a burnt vape.

I agree Kayfuns styles don't have much airflow, but what about my stillare rda? I have built to the rda to substain high wattage yet it still gets burnt hits.

It's probably the way you're wicking it. I know with the Kayfun style you have to make the ends of the wick go right down to the juice channels but don't block them or the juice can't get into the chimney area. I just rebuilt my Stillare a few minutes ago with twisted 30 gauge on my Sigelei and organic cotton wick. I use just enough for the wick not to move around by itself in the coil. Kinda hard to explain but you might be using too much wick. 2014-11-11 00.40.26 HDR.jpg

This is not caused by your batteries. You just need to get a better handle on how to design and set up builds.

Choice of wire gauge and power need to match air flow and wicking. Get these out of balance and even 6 watts will give you burnt hits.

With a VW device you set watts (power) and the device gives you that regardless of your atty build resistance, as long as the device can handle the resistance. Most will not handle 0.001 ohms and all will have a range of resistance in which they are able to give you their maximum power.

What you are describing is probably due to your wicking not being able to supply enough juice to keep the coil wet during your vape. I use the Steam Engine coil wrapping calculator to design my setups and that works well for me. Input the heat flux watts and check that the mW/mm² output stays in the high green or low orange range.

You could also post a couple of clear pictures of your builds so folks could make sure you're not doing something else wrong.

Burnt taste with a 100 watt pv, imagine that!!!
Turn the power down!!! That's why it's VARIABLE wattage.

Sorry for sounding so condescending, but which is more important? A good vape, or more watts?

I had a kid blow his cloud directly into my face Sunday night (a deliberate act), and quite frankly, my reaction was that I wanted to punch his lights out.

I normally don't vape that high, only to impress friends every once in a while. That's why I got the Sigelei 100 watt, to be able to use all 100 watts.
