Haha nice!
I've ordered kanthal from Lightning Vapes on Amazon before, super fast shipping!

Yes, Lightning has consistently been the fastest ship to the frozen north. Amazing how quick they can get things here. Makes me all the more frustrated with the usual delays I have to endure.

Hmmm... maybe I should get my gear sent to Lightning for them to send to me.

Dr. Strangelove Bump!

All good advice in this thread!

The blurb about using the flush cutters to cut wicks is a good one... scissors tend to push the wick away during a cut causing angle edges; the flush cutters make it easier to cut a straight edge. I use Italian organic cotton yarn for wicks.

Also the ceramic tweezers are a must have. Things I would add to tooling up since we're getting into here now would be: Coil jig & digital meter. If you get as insanely into coil building as I have a wire welder may become a prized tool, but it's not necessary - just for us kooks who obsess over using ever micrometer of resistance over our wicks. (laughing at myself)

^^^

I have a large tube of Noalox and a large bottle of Detoxit...tried them both and consider both hype for vape gear. I don't use either of them on my APV's or batts. Clean contacts has worked just fine for me for near 2 years of vaping, with no fuss or mess - and during my working lifetime that most of the time included electrical and electronics along with everything else. YMMV

The flush cut side cutters look similar to the ones I have. They work OK, but so does just spinning the tails off. I end up using my side cutters way more often for cutting off excess wicking after installed it in a coil mounted in an atty than for cutting wire (to get some use out of them).

Doesn't using Noalox or Deoxit protect your batteries from arc damage? I've ruined a couple VTC5s thinking Noalox/Deoxit didn't actually do anything.

It's been my experience that using them when running sub-ohm builds prevents battery damage on flat top batteries.
