I noticed there are people experiencing the dim red light on there PV with no blue. Well it happened to me and I thought great I suppose this one has failed too. I checked and everything was tight. No juice inside anything. I thought I just put these batteries in did I forget to charge them? But they both metered good so I noticed that they didn't match. Both were blue but one was a 14430 NTI and the other one was a LC 14430 so I though I better get the sets back together. I did and both sets worked in the pairs they were supposed to be in but wouldn't if I mixed them. I knew it was good to pair your batteries but didn't think it was that crucial. I also knew batteries that aren't balanced in their voltage levels will cause the protection circuit to open. What ever the reason I thought I better pass this along.

when my IPro failed I only had 1 set of batteries, so my IPro pcb failure wasn't due to any battery mis-match problem

keeping matched batteries matched and always charging in pairs now seems a good idea and my common practice with all my batteries... I now have 3 sets and they are all marked and regularly metered

If the sets are considerablt different in age/cycles that can happen. Typically the top batt in series gets more strain. When matched improperly it cannot pull the current needed thus trips the protection circuit. Ive seen this before. In most cases it would trigger the battery protection before the PV protection would kick in.

Very WEIRD 5CS >?? I have never seen that before.
I know, I've never seen it either and was surprised but if it happened to me it could happen to someone else and I thought I'd pass it along for another thing to chech in troubleshooting the PVs. I thought I had a battery gremlin or something but it did happen because I just checked it and again it happened. Weird

I mark all my pairs of Batts A-1 A-2, B-1 B-2 C-1 C-2 and so on with a sharpy. I also keep my Batts in those 4 batt holders so I always have 2 pairs of batts together. It's just a good safety feature and this way old Batts dont get paired with new ones and all pairs I keep together always.
