The best ego sized battery I've used was the iTaste VV v3. Can be found for around $25 in the express kit version. Basically, just the battery and a charger. Good beginner topper for it would be a Mini Protank II. I think variable watts are easier to deal with then variable volts. You can still adjust to taste. As a coils ohms drift after use, a variable watt device will adjust itself to make up for. It. Also, when the coils are changed, or a new topper is put on, a variable watts device will adjust to the new one. All in all, once you select your sweet spot wattage setting, there's less fiddling.

its not for me,
i'm looking at putting together some starter kits for people who have never vaped.
some one starting out wants to keep it pretty cheap.
I'm looking at people in their 50 and 60 age range.
they so far have not been interested in the bigger batteries or voltage controls.

so my plan is to put together 1 650mah batteries, with 1 polypro bottom coil tanks and a basic usb charger in a ego case.
just to kinda get their nose wet ya know.

i'm wondering if the evod constant power would be better, i know my mom age 56 didn't use her's for 2 weeks (ego battery) because she thought it was broke. Turns out it was at its end of charge so the power was too low.

i can't stand evod clearo, i use the kwx5 listed on fast tech, but i buy them from somewhere else even cheaper. they are polypro with aluminum drip tips instead of plastic so we won't have to worry about tank cracking.

now i just need to figure out the best battery to go with it, that's kinda plug and play and cheap.
can't afford to hook them up with itaste vv3 or mvp2.

Somewhere out there
I'm just wondering which is the better standard battery?
i would think the kanger evod would be as it runs the constant 3.7v
but ego seems more popular.
am i missing something?

i'm looking to put together some starter kits, so feedback is appreciated.
thanks y'all.

Kanger Evod batteries are very good, I think they are less well-known than Ego mostly because the egos were on the market first. I have the genuine Kanger evod and two of the Fast tech clone evods batteries. The fast tech clones are pretty good, they are also regulated 3.7V, but they don't seem to hold a charge quite as long as the Kanger do.

Given your criteria, either the EVOD or Ego batts should work fine. Both are available in several mah sizes and both have VV variants (simple twisting wheels at the base of the units). I see you've excluded VV, but in the case of the twist or similar Kanger, it really does not get in the way - they won't need to deal with it until they're ready and it's a nice option to have.

If you're being really picky, the EVOD bats are a slightly larger diameter.

I have smoktech, generic, joytech, and kanger evod batteries...don't see much difference in performance...but I do like the regulated 3.7v.

I will not likely buy more evods...I just don't like the flush buttons or the fact that they are a bit larger for the same mah...but that's just personal preference. That button is just hard to use for me..a real deal breaker. Can't find it in the dark, can't push it with gloves on, have to look down to find it while driving or watching TV.
