Anybody know where to source 18350, 18500, 14500 batteries etc. that are safe chemistry and high drain?
A lot of us are getting in to the rebuildables and mechs now, but there are very few cost effective options to get the above battery sizes that will work properly and are safe. Given that a 1.2 ohm coil at 4.2 volts will require 3.5 amps current, the available batteries just won't cut it. A 0.6 coil needs 7 amps!!
The well known Panasonic 18650s at fasttech will push 10 amps and are pretty cheap. I'd reccomend you all get yourself some of these for your mechs, they make a massive difference. You won't be able to experiment like you want to without the right batteries. I ordered a couple of Efest 18500 and 18350 IMRs from the UK. Right PITA. Have them sent to a UK address, then sent out here - not exactly cost effective...
I certainly reckon there's a market here for these. I for one wouldn't mind paying a bit of a premium on them if one of the local suppliers brings them in.
