First, let me start this out on a positive note: I placed an order Sunday evening, and another order Monday morning and I got both of them yesterday. Just before Christmas. That's a small miracle, all by itself and it couldn't have happened without MadVapes doing a bang-up job of packaging and getting out my orders. Second good thing - the Raspberry Truffle sample you sent in my second order is amazing, and I'm definitely ordering more.

Now the bad stuff. Three of the four 510 manual batteries have gone into failure mode. When I press the button, the LED flashes 10 times and nothing else happens. The first failed last night, before I even used it. The second failed early this morning, fresh out of the charger, the third failed this afternoon, while I was using it. I'm sure this will be covered by warranty, but I'm not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about this PCC kit or the 510 manual batteries any more. How unusual is it to have batteries fail like this? I'm not using any equipment that I didn't get in these two orders, so there shouldn't be any huge incompatibilities. I haven't even used the cartos much, they're giving me a *way* too strong throat hit, so it's primarily been the atomizers and cartridges that came in the 510 kit. Both the kit batteries, and one of the backup batteries are dead. What are my options, here? I don't dare use the last battery too much, so I'm going on a crappy little Elektro e-cig that I got to tide me over until the 510 kit came.

I dont think its too normal. Sounds like you may be in a pinch for batteries. There is an emergency needs thread in the PIF forum. I think you just need to have some more shipped, and hopefully you will come up with some that work for you. I am concerned that a certain atty, or your charger could be causing it, so keep track of which atty you are using, especially if you are down to your last battery. If you are coming to Nor Cal for the holidays, I have a spare batt for you.

I've been playing with flavors, so I've used several different atomizers and cartomizers. The cartomizers are supposed to be 2.4-2.6 ohm ceramic, but I could measure them to be sure. I know going with a too-low resistance isn't good for batteries.

Thanks for the battery offer, but I'm staying home with family for the holidays, and I think I'll be all right with my one working setup and the Elektro. It may not be elegant, but I've figured out how to refill the cartridges and the charger keeps them topped up all right. If I can get this battery situation resolved by New Year's Eve, I think I'll be fine.

It's funny how regular cigarettes - something I've fought giving up for years - suddenly become the last option when something better comes along. And I've still got three cartons in the cupboard.

4 out of 4 is pretty rare.. Are you charging through a charger or pcc?

Through the PCC, it's the only charger I've got for the 510s. And, just so you're not confused if you look up the orders, it's 3 out of 4. ;)

And sorry to ask but if through a smart pcc, are you holding the button down to initiate a charge?

Yes, but it doesn't seem to do anything with the dead batteries - it's like it doesn't even recognize they're in there.

Check this out.. when you put a battery in the back slot and close the top, you need to hold the button down for about 5 seconds and the pcc led will flash.. When it stops flashing, there are 3 results:

1) turns solid red for about 2 seconds = charging (each time you open the lid while charging, you have to restart the charge sequence.

2) turns solid green for about 2 seconds= battery is charged

3) led turns off or appears blue and does not turn solid= battery is not making contact. This is rare with teh pcc batteries itself but other batteries can vary in length.. To test, take a small piece of paper and fold to desired thickness to push the battery down futher when you close the lid. Initiate a charge by holding down the front button for 5 or more seconds (until the green led flashes) and see if you get result 1 or 2 above..

You can check the status of a battery by pressing the front button momentarily but only after a charge has been initiated..

also, make sure the pcc has a good charge, at least half the bars when you press the button.

Good luck, hope it helps solve your issue..

The PCC has been plugged in since last night, and it shows fully charged. When trying to charge the batteries, I was getting the LED turning off. I've been scouring the intertubes, looking for anything on resetting these things, and stumbled across a reference that said the owner had put them in the freezer, on the theory that the disconnect might have been caused by a thermal protect. Lacking anything else to do (and not having any idea whether there's even a basis for this) I put mine in the freezer for a few hours. After warming back up to room temperature, I'm now getting a charge indicator on one of them (I haven't tried the others) and I'm going to let it charge completely before I test it - just want to make sure. Yesterday I didn't let them charge fully before using them, just popped one in for a few minutes to experiment. Maybe that had something to do with this? When the one that's working shows fully charged I'll try it again and see if I get anything out of it, but the fact that the PCC recognizes it and is willing to charge it makes me feel better. I'll post again when I've got more results.

I appreciate you working through this with me on your holiday. I'd read several reviews that said you had great customer service, and I'm embarrassed that you're proving it on a day you should be spending with friends and family.
