Following good advice and support from this forum I have decided to get into RTAs for the first time in order to save money on buying coils.

As fate would have it my old HG2 batteries could do with replacing . I am running a pico 75 I stick device and I vape MTL, 25w - 50 W) I vape between most of the time.

Is there any batteries more suited for lower power vaping than the HG2s? It's been a while since I bought any maybe there's something new out? Also as a newby into building coils what would be the safest batteries in case. I'm not sure if the HGS are IMR.

I have been happy with my current batteries so far, they do seem to hold charge longer than others I've used.

Your battery type should be fine in that application. I will say, I wasn't thrilled with the battery life in my Pico (or the pico generally) but if you are vaping at lower wattages, those batteries should be fine. I am personally partial to the Samsung 25 battery, but it is fairly similar in rating to what you have. You may want to replace them if they are getting elderly but you could certainly replace them with what you are used to.

20A batteries are good to roughly 60W each, so there's no need to get a high Amp battery and trade off for less runtime. The Samsung 30Q is a nice 20A 3,000 mAh battery. I use the 25Rs as I just have a bunch. Your LG battery types are fine and if you need fresh IMR is an excellent source I use regularly.

I use both the Samsung30Q and LG HG2 in my regulated mod, sub-ohm vaping 0.5 ohm at 30 watts.

Mooch has tested all the batteries mentioned thus far. The Samsung30Q and Sony VTC6 have an official amp rating of 15A, but both may be used up to 20A as long as the battery does not over heat.

* "Manufacturer's CDR is 15A. The Samsung 30Q datasheet (Section 7.9) mentions operation at 20A. Operation at that level can be done as long as we don’t let the battery get above 75°C, its maximum rated operating temperature. This holds true for the Sony VTC6 battery as well. These are not a high performance “power” cell, designed for high current. They are a high capacity “energy” cell designed for low to moderate power levels and long running time. At higher current levels the voltage sag and power loss in the cell are huge. Do not exceed 20A."

The only 2 batteries I use are Samsung 30 Q and lG h2. They're great batteries. You're gonna love the RTA. Saves you so much money!

No doubt it does save money. But if that's the ultimate goal, nothing saves you more money than DIY juice. Pennies for the same amount of juice and with good recipes every bit as tasty if not more so. Also simple to do. If you'd can mix a drink you can mix your own juice.

I'm with @bombastinator ... are you sure you're an MTL vaper? Most MTL-ers stay well south of 20 Watts though some stray above that. That might also explain short coil head life. Higher wattage requires higher airflow, and that higher airflow is better done by drawing the vape straight into the lungs. Without that extra air movement, your coils may be overheating and burning out.

I am but occasionally, I like hitting the odd 40 to 50 DL hit. I should have reworded it but 90% of the time yeah I'm MTL as I was a smoke for over 6 years and the habit won't go.

Yup I MTL at 20 also.

I was like that once. :)

The Samsung 30Q would do you nicely.
