There sure is a lot of "ha ha look at that guy, he's so paranoid" going around in this thread.
I saw where these batteries can fail, then vent, then shoot a fireball out of the end so I took an hour out of a day off and used some scrap metal that was in the shed to make a box to charge my batteries in when I charge them unattended. I like doing little projects like that so I enjoyed making it. I used metal vs. a lipo bag because it is what was available to me at the time and I tend to work with what I have. I don't see it as being any more paranoid than anyone using a lipo bag, a dutch oven or a granite counter top in a garage. All of my outlets are in flammable locations so this isn't a bad idea to charge in a box that will contain the flame if a battery does fail.
I don't think I'm going to get in a wreck while I'm on the road but I wear a seat belt when I'm in a car.
I don't expect to hit my leg with my chainsaw when I'm cutting trees but I still wear cut-proof chaps.
I don't expect lightning to hit the house but my electronics are on surge protectors.
I don't expect to run over a nail when I'm on the road but I keep a plug kit and pump in my truck.
I don't expect to have the house broken into but I keep my guns loaded and the dogs well fed.
I don't expect to hit a 300 yard drive on the golf course but when the group in front of me is within 300 yards I wait for them to move on because I have hit one that far.
I could go on for days with safety precautions that are taken for every "what if" in life but I think I've made my point.
