BATTERY CARE and "memory effect"

I worked as an electronic technician and RF engineer
for well over 20 years with cell phones and batteries.

When we went to the newer Lithium Ion batteries, it was supposed to fix the "memory effect".
I didn't think it did. I am now proven correct.

This means you should let your battery FULLY discharge at least once a week
before re-charging it.
It is probably better to do it every time, but i would think every 4-5 charges
you should let the battery FULLY discharge.

You should also let it FULLY CHARGE when on the charger.
taking it off when 1/2 charged also can produce a "memory".
Doing it once in a while isnt a problem, but dont do it every time.

This goes for all batteries, regardless of what you use them for.
I do not work for an e-cig company, and you should follow the instructions of the company you purchased the battery from,
but if they do not mention battery care, you should research it yourself...
i thought it was a good FYI....

article...
Memory effect now also found in lithium-ion batteries

Thats ok, ive been running a never below 60% discharge for over 10 years, and have laptops that are pushing 7-8 years and still have excellent battery life. I do not believe these tests were done under conditions that would in any way simulate real world conditions of lifepo.

I also have over 20 years of experience in electronics among other technical trades.

That totally goes against what battery university says.

Agreed... This study was on LiFePO4 batteries which does not apply to us or most users of Lithium batteries... Most Laptops and phones do not use LiFePO4 batteries.. Currently used in cars for the most part from what I know. Although they are rated as "safe" ie no explosion danger so we might start seeing more of them in the future..

How can you fully discharge a battery when the mod stops firing at 3.2 or 3.3 ?

I will continue to charge when it runs low, another new battery is only a keyboard stroke away.....

That's what I've always done with my aw's for my provari and EA, but I just got an mvp and groove and want to stretch their lives as long as possible due to the battery being proprietary.

Your ecig and laptop batteries will provide more power over their lifespan if charged between 60 and 80%. This has been tested and confirmed SO MANY TIMES. Its not a 1 study thing, its not someones hunch or theory, this is tested and confirmed data. Discharging fully (as fully as your device will which is usually about 20%) will improve the calibration of remaining battery life, and nothing else.

How Often Should I Charge My Gadget's Battery to Prolong Its Lifespan?

This article is dead on accurate

That is what I've been going by. I just hate when conflicting info comes out.

I hate it more than you, thats why i jump on these battery threads every time i see them. I watch everyone i know kill their batteries and it fires me up. I have a method, theres info to back up my method, and it works. I wish others would just listen sometimes

As noted above, first off, if ya have a PV/batt circuit board, ya won't drain da batt through normal usage! Da board won't let ya. Get a mechanical mod if ya insist on 0 VDC prior to recharging (not my recommendation).

Secondly, yes, it's quite disturbing, and very misguiding for our n00bs, to read batt misinformation on this site after my successful two years of vaping! That's not counting da many, if not most, others following da general consensus accepted here with no issues.

Lastly, my 21' Keener (LA) bay skiff owes me nuttin' after 18 years of fishin' joy and satisfaction!
