okay so I had been using a twisted 30g build, but my buddy wrapped me a new setup today. its a dual coil, 26 gauge, each wrapped around a 1/8 drill bit about 6-7 times. Holy crap this thing makes more vapor than ive ever had! But my vtc4's seem to drop to like 2/3 or half power after what seems like 6-7 big rips. I am using a mech so I know I am going to experience a drop off, but I thought the drop off would be less noticeable. how long do your batteries usually last with a similar setup? im using an rda btw

What's the resistance of the build? My coil calculator says you're running around 0.5 ohms. Even though that's low, you should be getting more than 6-7 toots before your battery starts dropping off on you.

Are you sure you don't have a short? Is anything getting hot besides the atty?

The lower your ohms the faster the drain. 26 gauge is very low resistance so youre likely pulling quite a bit of power. Hope youre using a good high output battery

I know I would experience faster drain, I just did not think it was going to be that much. and im using 18650 sony vtc4's, top of the line right now if im informed correctly

nope, nothing else is getting hot besides my atty. and maybe its more than 6-7, but it seems to happen rather quickly!

A dual coil build using 26g, 6 wraps, should (as far as I know) come out to 0.4 ohms. That would explain the vapor production.

I'm glad you said you had the VTC4 batteries, because I know they're a high drain safe enough for that build.

I don't build that low, so I can't say anything about battery drain, but it makes sense that it would drain quickly. I never thought it would only be 18-21 hits before it drained a battery though. That would only take me like 30 minutes. You should be getting more battery life than that.

-EDIT-
Wow, all those replies came as I was typing mine lol. Seems my mental math came out pretty damn well if you're using a calculator and came to 0.5:p

ive got a multimeter I can use, but its on my rda already so I cant. I do need to invest in one of those 510 threaded resistance meters, or get a regulated mod that can read it

Take it to your friend who wrapped it. Have him find the resistance. I doubt he would be wrapping this type of setup without a way to read and check for shorts once it's in place.

yea I wouldn't feel safe with this build unless I had the batteries I do. I am over exaggerating a little probably, I will test out how much life I can get out of it, but I still notice that the first 10 or so hits on a full charged battery is giving me the hugest hits compared to those after. maybe its in my head?

Before anyone else says it, yes, please do. Wrapping an RDA and vaping on it can be very risky unless you have some way to ensure that you didn't accidentally create a direct short, whether through your own doing or through a flaw with the RDA itself.

You CAN use your multimeter to check - basically test the resistance from the center 510 pin of the RDA to the body of the RDA, accounting for the resistance of the multimeter leads.

oops, of course you can! I don't know why I didn't realize/think of this. It is reading between .3 and .4

thanks for the tip! When I think I've figured things out, I learn something new
