Actually efest normally rewraps pretty good batteries (Sony, LG, and Samsung), they just go crazy with what they say they can do. (amp ratings)

eh...my experience has shown me that it is usually the lower binned rejects from these manufacturers they get to rewrap although i do have some of my and do use them I will not buy anymore again

[edited] Now this is three threads I have come across with blatant lack of knowledge and safety. YOU CANT USE BATTERIES WITH A DAMAGED WRAP, I mean you can but YOU SHOULDNT. If it was me even if the voltage was still good I would toss them. And for the love of god buy some decent batteries, seriously you can find VTC4s easy and 3s even easier which are the same as 5 just with less mah. You can also get boxes of 25r batteries that are real that work out to 4.77 a battery. Also, the resident battery expert here claims that a certain purple efest is a re wrapped vtc4 but who knows. LGHE2 or whatever there called. Theres 3 readily available substantial batteries and one iffy one for you (efest, that's mo) buy some.

Lol, every empty case has a batt that it is home to as well, some are just at work and this is why I never understand why people won't just fork out 8 dollars a batt for good ones...although admittedly I only pay about 4 dollars a batt:pervy:

I think he can use them, provided he does it at home, alone, in a house that he owns!

After a dead short, no one on here will tell you to go ahead and use them. Though, some of us would still use them if the tested okay and the damaged wrapper was replaced.

A while back I had a 510 connector short and weld the switch contacts, as I was holding the battery I soon noticed it getting warm and unscrewed the clearomiser.

A bit of levering with a small flat screwdriver cleared the shorted middle contact, and there was enough left in the battery to get me home by screwing in the cartomiser for a few puffs at a time.

The battery remained in service for a few weeks till I got a replacement - it still worked, but the capacity had taken a hit.

I probably would've disposed of it immediately if it had melted the plastic covering as the end seal would most likely be unsafe.

    The 2100mAh purple efest is a vtc4, and the 2500mAh is a HE2.

This is a picture of the battery, someone mentioned there is no such thing as a 40amp. I might have the wrong idea but I thought the 40a meant 40 amp. Anyway, Ill throw the one battery out with the damaged wrapper and buy some new ones. I'll be using the purple one pictured until they arrive it seems to be working fine and there is no visual damage. I bought this copper mod because I'm broke and my variable voltage one broke, when I screwed my old tank in when I first bought it, it vented the battery so I took it into a shop and they told me the reason its happening is because on kanger tanks the positive pin on the tank is set inside the screw housing and the pin on the mod is wide, so it was meeting the tank and shorting. So they opened an atlantis tank for me there and tried it and it seemed to be working fine and it is working great, its just that everything has to be perfect. I cannot have the coil screwed out even a little or it will make contact with the threads. Does anyone have a poor mans alternative that would work for me? To be honest this thing is scaring the .... out of me being in my pocket.

Just because the wrapper says it is 40a does NOT make it a 40 amp, there is no 40 amp continuous battery in existence today and the ONLY one that comes close is the sony VTC line at 30 amp continuous

We figured you were using purple efest batteries. They are notorious for listing the "pulse" amp rating instead of the "continuous" amp rating on their batteries.
Since there is no standardized method of measuring a pulse amp ratings, pulse ratings should be considered as suspect at best, and flat out dangerous at worse.

I have never pealed the wrapper off their 40amp 2500mAh to see what cell they use, but their 35amp 2500mAh is a LG18650HE2 20amp battery. (both of mine now have pretty black replacement wrappers on them, because I did peal the wrappers off to see what they actually were)

You should note that efest (like many others) DO NOT make batteries. They buy batteries, and put their wrappers on them.
