Protected batterie are not what you are looking for IMO you want safe chemistry IMRs with a high ampage load capability AW IMRs are the best in 18350, 18500,18650. In 18650 you have the Grey panasonic and a few others, I'm on Oz so I wont give you links to sales, but check this out for serios performance under a 10AMP load: High-Drain 18650 Shootout

That's about 5.3 amps with a net ohms of .7 (two 1.4 ohm coils) @ 3.7 volts. At 4.2 volts it's 6 amps.

You can decide if that's "stressing your battery too much" at intermittent drain.

But if you don't want to stress batteries, why do sub-ohm? It's mutually exclusive goals. Get some 30 ga wire wind wind two 2.x ohm coils.

Look for unprotected, safe chemistry 18650 IMR batteries rated 15C for maximum continuous discharge current. Always measure the resistance of coil(s) on an atty before installing them on a mod. For example, with a 1600 mAH AW IMR 18650 (15C x 1.6 AH), you'll be running it at one-third (or less) of that rating with a 0.5Ω coil (which is what two 1.0Ω coils in parallel are). I don't call that "stressing."
