I'm actually a bit sad to see GotVapes felt they needed to pull these off the shelf simply because what I also see as hysteria and the safety concerns that were brought up getting misunderstood and overblown out of proportion ... I do think that added venting would be a good thing on any mechanical mod but that has been my only issue other than just trying to pass on general battery safety concerns.

Still... due to the way many are taking this because of what I think is a lack of understanding... I have to commend GotVapes for taking the steps they are taking even if they are over the top.

This is why I like gotvapes.com and Continue to purchase as much as I can from them.

Personally, I hope anyone who returns declines the $25. Amazing they offered...but they should NOT have to take that extra hit IMO. They seem to be doing everything possible to please current and future customers.

Yeah, I have seen a Lot of gotvapes Bashing today. But I can't ever remeber seeing a Vendor who does More to Bring New Products to Market. Or to Help ECF Members get the Most out of there Hardware.

I guess it is like what someone said in another thread, That if you are the First to Realease some Product, you take all the Heat for the OEM Mistakes.

Your so calm... Your videos your very calm... even your typing seems calm lol.

Thank you. There is no reason to panic. We are all adults here, and adult discussions will help us move forward as a community. There are too many uncertainties, where we all need to discuss, and learn.

I hope that even though the Telescope is being removed from sales, we continue to discuss battery safety. This is a subject that we should all learn more about. :)

Right on L.D.

Sometimes I think some people come to the ECF just for the Drama.

I agree 100% ... in fact, this thread is convoluted enough that perhaps a new one that is more focused on just the issues with battery info and safety may be a good idea... and if mod safety is brought up, just do it on a general note instead aimed at any one specific mod

Battery info and safety, not aimed at any one mod, you say? OK, here goes...

I just got my first mod a week ago, and I'm using 1500mAh 18500 batteries in it. Everything I've read says thou shalt not leave batteries charging overnight or, basically, even out of sight. I'm fine with that, but compared with the 650mAh ego batteries I'm accustomed to, they take a looong time to recharge, and sometimes I've got other things to do with my time besides watching my batteries charge. Case in point: it's (TGI)Friday and getting close to beer:30 as we speak, I think my neighborhood dive is calling my name.

So, my question -- assuming, as I do since batteries tend to scare me, that the above guidelines really should be followed -- is it OK to take the batteries off the charger mid-charge and resume the charge when I get back home? I'm wondering both from a safety perspective and also in terms of battery longevity.

Thanks for any words of wisdom.

If you get a compatible lithium charger that can charge at 1000mah... it will probably only take about 1 1/2 hrs to charge the battery

What you read about not leaving a charging battery without supervision is correct... if a battery does vent, you want to be able to address the problem quickly so it doesn't cause a fire and possibly burn down the house... You can help mitigate the safety issues by also only charging your batteries in a fire safe environment. I charge mine on a 1' x 1' ceramic tile... I've also heard of using a ceramic pot with a lid, some even charge theirs in an outdoor charcoal grill.

Try charging a 4S1P 4000mah LiPo batteries if you think a 1S1P Lithium like your asking about... it takes a while... lol. I am actually starting do to just that with a bunch of batteries that I use for my RC planes that I hope to fly tomorrow.

Yes. Lithium batteries don't have a memory, so it's OK to partially charge them. I do this all the time, especially at night. I just finish charging them when I wake up in the morning.

I really like hearing the answer I wanna hear more than once! :D

Cool....

Hopefully we can turn what you now fear a bit into just something you show the proper respect for. What people are now learning about rechargeable batteries has always been the case, they just weren't told or taught before so few people knew.

In no particular order

1. Safe fireproof charging area
2. Do not overcharge or discharge too much
3. Anytime you suspect the battery has damage, even minor, replace it.
4. Supervise the charging just in case something does happen.

Grab a Ultra Fire WF-88

Charges my batteries pretty quickly...I have fallen asleep while charging before...the charger is supposed to cut off the charge when full...but I don't recommend falling asleep during a charge ;)

If you get a LiPo bag...you should be good...but don't get a cheapo one...some of them are knock offs and don't actually work...a search on youtube can find you samples of knock offs failing.
