So, I see ratings for battery life and they say "2-3 hours" or more. How are people coming up with this number? Are they saying so many hours of regular vaping? I know the battery life could vary greatly depending on how long you inhale, regularity of vaping, etc. Also ... standby time? Say I charge my Volt 78mm to full and set it on my desk. How long until that battery dies?

The reason I am asking is that I got the Volt 78mm and I'm wanting to get a good idea of what I can expect out of them. I started using one of my batteries yesterday. I only took a handful of drags off of it and put it down for the night. Today, I didn't use it until probably 4:00 or so. I've been using it off and on and its still doing strong.

Thanks for any input. Also, if this has been discussed at length, just post a link and I'll do my reading. Thanks!

I gauge battery life like this: a freshly charged 78mm Volt will last through the better part of a fresh, self-filled carto. (85-90%)
I once carried one as a spare for 4-5 weeks, and it didn't seem to last as long when I pulled it out, and put a carto on it...maybe 25-30% less than one fresh off the charger. I could be wrong. It was only once.

As far as just sitting on your desk, all I can say is that I have 3 batteries that have been fully charged in my drawer for about 2weeks without use and they are still fully charged.

As far as vaping, it depends on how you vape and how much you vape. I have gone through a 78mm battery in 40 minutes and I have had one last me 4 hours.

Now I know what your saying "40 minutes?". Well that is me taking long deep puffs several times per minute.

The math is complicated, but if you can figure out how long a battery will fire the coil. Basically, the 78mm battery should fire the coil for about 16minutes

220 and 320 mah ... and they are 3.6v
Imagine, am I correct with the 65mm batteries being 220mah and the 78mm being 340mah.

Also, are the batteries regulated to 3.7 or 3.6? The website says 3.6 but I have seen numerous posts that it is 3.7

Let me clarify that 16 minutes.

That means if you were to press the button (or puff on an auto) for 16 straight minutes.

So, if I take a 4 second vape every minute, the battery will last for about 4 hours. Obviously, when I used a battery up within a hour, more than once I might add, I was taking a lot more than a 4 second puff each minute.

That clears things up quite a bit. In the early part of an evening, I will take a four second drag once every couple of minutes. However, when I am having a Dos Equis or enjoying a nice glass of Balvenie, I may just take a drag a bit more often :)

Thanks to everyone for the replies. So far, this is looking to work out very, very nice!

Sitting down, facing forward.
Thanks to MrOutlaw for doing the math on mah at 2.6/2.8 ohms. It explains battery life much more clearly than "about 4 hours" for the average user. I've found that a 78mm battery lasts for about a SI standard carto, at least for me. The XL carto I am using has lasted about a charge and three quarters, for me. I'm more than satisfied with the battery life of the 78mm Volts although I do plan on trying an X2 in the near future. I have noticed that vapor aoutput does tail off when the battery is reaching the point of needing a recharge, but that is more than acceptable to me.

That’s a good response for another often asked question.
Many wonder when it’s time to refill a carto. The usual response is that it should be topped off regurarly or filled before you get a slightly burnt taste. As a rule of thumb, I tend to refill when a battery needs charging. At least for me then I never get to the point of having a dry carto.

I think that is exactly what I'll do when the juice arrives. If i'm going to take the battery off and put it on the charger, I might as well fill up. Great point.

In case anyone is interested, I created an excel spreadsheet to figure out how long a battery will last.
Feel free to check it out. I am not very good at making it look good, but it does work.

Thanks for the link. I swear I couldn't find it and then there it showed up. Got that edit in before I had a chance to respond :)

That spreadsheet looks to be dead on too. Great work.

Do this calculations also include age of the battery?
Do they include the gradual voltage drop till the cut off? Cause when the battery discharges e.g. from 4.2V fully charged and gradually 4.1, 4.0, 3.9V up to 3.2 (which is the cut off) The calculations do change. Not to mention the ability of an aged battery to hold it's charge.
btw the 78mm battery is a 1.05Wh cell i wonder how the chinese got up to 340mAh's
