I was using the Orbtronics in my Grand until I picked up some 1600 AWs. The 1600s actually seem to perform better.

A great place to buy them is RTD.

As for 18490s, I have 9 AWs, and they worked fine in all of my Provaris until I got my extension caps and 18650s. I have seen some eFest 18490, but never tried them. I would stick with AWs, any other 18490s I could find were cheap generics.

So there's no more buying batteries from fasttech? Shame as "SONY US18650V3 IMR 18650" are dirt cheap there.

I think they are sending the batteries now through Singapore Post instead of Hong Kong Post

I bought two Panasonic 15 A about two weeks ago and they sent it over SP. Tracking them it says that they have been delivered to our national mail service already.

What about 18490, anybody can recommend anything besides AW IMR?
To be frank, I'm tired of the red color. (Yes I know that is stupid).
And about low ohms...
I can do the math as long as I'm right that it's voltage under load that should be used to calculate amps / battery safety. Am I?
I suppose the AW IMR is 8C(low estimate, I've seen 10 even 15?!), then 8.8 amps. A 0,5 ohm coil with, say, 3.5 volts under load, would be 7 amps. Is that so? That would be close. I don't want to go as far. I'd like some room before explosion lol.
Anyway... Any better batteries for this? (Feel like experimenting, happy anyway with my 0.9 ohm ATM)

I also have seen different C ratings for these. Pretty sure the Andrew Wong listing says 15C. Since you already have the batteries; it seems reasonable to cautiously test them. Vape at moderate levels (meaning; like you said, your current build is right on the border of the LOWER C rating), with the REO door off, and keep feeling that battery's bee-hind (bottom) for any indication of heat. If there is ZERO heat, you might feel confident going down half a tenth of an ohm. . . . . . . .etc. etc.

Bear in mind!! My SPECULATION; Your FACE. :)

KIDS! I've got a new project coming up. Reading/posting this thread nudged me, and I ordered some of the Samsungs (flat buttontop). I'm going to make myself some custom firing pins that are configured for such batteries! FUN!!!!!!!!!! Shipping is landing in Oct. So, more on this later.

I loves me a new project. :)

The only batteries I run are AW IMRs. Considering that the REO firing mechanism and spring was designed / selected for these batteries, that's all I needed to know to make the purchase. For my grands I've been rotating 3 for around 6 months that charge consistently to 4.21 v and work seemingly the same as they always have.

I have the 2000mah ones. I've never tried the 1600 ones, but these 2000s excel for me :)

Odd. Ordered some from there a few weeks ago. They may or may not be at home. They were monsters....hope they work.

I also use button top efest and a flat panny in my grand with no issues. My mini 2 always has aw in it, and my og mini is button top efest and working great. I don't go sub ohm if that helps.

Edit: they shipped from Hong Kong.

I loves you a new project too. Always interested to see what you'll come up with next, pdib.

well, been thinking, this one pro'ly ain't gonna be anything to write home about. Most likely just like my other firing pin; but with a longer nose. And even that, just a little longer. I was just out in the vape cave, playing with my current pins (hah . . . "current pins"), and even they have a good angle of attack when pressed beyond the delrin opening. The brass layer is holding up great (on the nose, and where the button rubs the top). . . . .. booooooring.

Nah! Not booooooooring to me. I don't have the technical where-with-all nor the imagination for modding so I rely on the smart kids like you and DZ and dhomes and the monkey and many others to shed the light on these "current" issues. I think Rob's designs are elegant, beautiful and nearly perfect as is. However, I'm always interested in any home grown innovations and changes that come up. These kinds of things help keep an already fantastic subforum (reoville) fresh and interesting.
