I'm not screwing on cartos too tight, nor screwing into the charger that tightly. I have an ego 650mah and a 1000mah. The 1000 batt is fine..there's always a little resistance that approaches, then I can even screw on a carto/charger a few more quarter turns if I want (but I usually wait till I feel a little resistance, and then turn it just a 'little' bit more). It operates the same way every time.

The 650 battery on the other hand is a different story. First, the post has always been more shallow than the bigger battery. I have successfully been able to wiggle the post up just a bit, and every time I screw on a carto or into the charger, it's like the post gets pushed down as far as I screw it in. There's hardly any resistance, or "bounce back" to the battery post when I unscrew it. Therefore, every time I unscrew and screw on something else, the post is getting lower and lower way too easily. It's like I have to raise the post almost after every swap out of something. The 1000mah battery's post acts the way it should - it always has the same resistance when screwing something on, and seems to always go back to it's original position. This seems like the way it should be, given slightly different depths/variances of connectors that one might attach to the battery.

I've tried cleaning the post and surrounding, thinking that the post might have gotten lubed and is sliding around too easily, but it doesn't seem to help. Any other suggestions?

The post will 'bottom out' against the insulator inside the eGo connector cavity. Seating depth varies between model to model and is a problem. The less you mess with the center pin on the eGo side (mess with the carto pin first) the longer it will last. Pressure against the insulator helps to keep the pin from rotating and breaking off the small wire soldered on the other end.

Seating depth can be changed (as a last resort) by filing off a few thousandths of the eGo connector shell. Just a little.
Once removed, the material is gone forever :)

Sounds like a good last resort solution. My only problem is 90% of the cartos I use are dependent on the outer skirt (EMDCC, echo-e...I like the finished look). So if I shave off the tiniest bit of the battery shell, the carto's shell still hits the lip just above the button, so I don't think it would go down any furthur anyway. Basically I'm relying on the outer threads more than the inner threads. I just wish the two batteries were the same!!!! I might just get another 650mah and use the other one as backup. Thanks for the comments :)
