Every time I think I have this figured out I read a new thread that confuses me even more. I bought three AW IMR 14500 batteries for my reo mini which I will be purchasing soon. I also purchased drip tips LR catomizers and a battery charger. I saw a thread today about battery issues and now have a question. Are the batteries I have bought protected or unprotected. Are these batteries safe. If they are not protected is there a protected battery that i can use safely in the reo mini and if so can I have the make model number and the place where I can buy the protected battery. Please jump in here every time I think I got something worked out it justs gets more confusing

Red those batts are very safe to use. Yes they are not protected by a circuit but the batt chemistry is some of the best around and is a different make up than Lithium batts.

Don't worry just use them and enjoy. When you notice a decline in vapor just put in a new batt and put the one you replace in the charger. You will not discharge the battery too much. You will notice a very sharp decline in vapor before it is too discharged. This batt is safe and will not explode or catch fire. relax you got some good batteries. Aw's are the best.

Read the entire thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...if-reo-your-first-mod-what-you-will-need.html This has come up before, and this is the particular post:

From the ECF battery thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/129569-rechargeable-batteries.html:

14500 battery - 3.6 v
4.2 volts off charge, 3.6 volts in use, 3 volts minimum
14mm x 50mm (AA size)
THIS IS THE SMALLEST CELL THOUGHT TO BE SUITABLE FOR USE IN A MOD. Cells smaller than this simply do not have a high enough C rating. Not all cells of this size will have sufficient power, only AW Li-Mn [AW IMR 14500's] cells are known to be safe at this size, others may be but this cannot be stated as fact.
