This picture shows a collapsed spring on a Mini.

If your battery pushes down the spring too much it will not have room to collapse and break contact.

Always be aware that some of the higher ohm batteries are longer.

Good point- apparently there have been a few "incidents" lately even in decent mods... We just don't want to hear about them in the news. Sometimes a battery malfunctions internally on its own. The Reo has some safety build into it, including the collapsible spring, but really- getting the right/safer battery could save you from injury... Make sure as one precaution, you allow the Reo to do its safety thing- allows the spring to collapse in the case of a hard-short...if it's already compressed from the get-go, you are asking for trouble if something does go wrong (and it has- my Grand's spring collapsed from a bad atty)- Thank God for the Reo Spring!!!
