What does it mean?
It means that resting voltage is not the same as, and is indeed higher than, voltage under load. Cool?

(i.e. don't worry about it. That's what's supposed to happen. It's just how they work.)

If it's that drastic, it could mean you need a new or different battery. What do you have in there right now, and how long have you had it?

As already noted above, what you see is what is called voltage drop or sag. To a point, its considered to be normal.

More information would have been helpful for more specific answers:

What brand and model battery are you using?
How old are they?
How hard are you using them? (Coil resistance if a mechanical mod, wattage used if a regulated mod)

Thanks for all the replies!
I donet know the brand, but I use 18650 2600mah 3.7v batteries. One I bought last week and the other I got from the vape shop owner, meaning I don't know how old it is. I now use a ni200 .15 at 480f at 42j.
Half way=in the middle position of the battery level indicator. Btw, what does the indicator actually measure?

May I suggest that you educatate yourself more about batteries. You MUST know the brand and model batteries that you use, and know the amp rating (continuous discharge rate) of your batteries. Batteries are the most important piece of your gear. They are also potentially the most dangerous.

The only 2600 mah battery that comes immediately to mind are the green Sony VTC5, but there may be others (off brand). If it is the Sony VTC5, it's a 20 amp CDR.

@Mooch and @Baditude both have blogs that discuss batteries, which ones are recommended for different vaping applications and the like. Having worked in a vape shop for over a year, I can attest that many vape shops employees don't know much about batteries and you need to know about batteries yourself to make an educated safe choice.

I don't really have an answer for your later questions. Different mods/manufacturers use different metering systems to measure the battery voltage.

Juding by pics and text on battery, I would say its a sony. Can't tell if its a 30 or 20 cdr. Lots of things to learn. Its definetly not just to pop a battery and vape! Will try to study and ask here if I need clarification:)
If it is a 2600 MAH capacity battery, it will be the VTC5, which is a 20A CDR cell.

As people have explained, all you are experiencing is voltage sag-it happens to all batteries.

Definitely learn basic safety, regarding your batteries, this was the first thing I did last year when I got my first mod (Sig 30 Mini-still going strong).

A regulated mod offers you all sorts of protection, but still be sure to learn at least the basics, as some mods now that are offering 200W on dual 18650's are just not completely safe.
Sure, you can try to do it, but I wouldn't advise over stressing your batteries-I know it is an extreme example and you are unlikely to vape anywhere near this level, but it is always better to be safe than sorry.

All the best :), Conan.

It's measuring the voltage output ...........

The indicator measures voltage.

The voltage drop you are seeing means your battery is ..... uncomfortable.

It's like when your lights dim because somebody is using an arcwelder in your house.

Is this something that I need to adress or is it normal?

It is something you should address.

It's like if your temperature gauge in your car kept doing the same thing: run all the way over to the right, then slide back left again.

maybe i missed it but what mod are you using?

are you using a 200 watt two battery mod with 2 batteries that are not a married pair?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that battery sag indicated by the battery level intended to show how much voltage is going out? Say you use a fresh battery at decently high voltage, wouldn't any battery show a substantial amount of sag?

I think the certain devices with different amperage limits will act differently too. Despite this you should still know the brand and age of your batteries, not something you you want to play around with.

I was using the ivp3 80w in tc. I bought a new tank today and it doesn't drop that much at all. Now its just a small drop. I wonder what was going on.

Sounds to me like there is a problem with your tank. Like if you have a bad starter in your car it will crank but not start the car even though the battery is good. Just a thought I am in no way a battery or MOD expert. :2c::2c:
