Does scratching on the negative (flat) side of an 18650 effect its ability over time to be recognized by a mod or a charger? Or is it purely superficial? I ask because lately ive been using party ribbon to pull my batteries out of my mod because its quicker and easier but i noticed because of the friction its be leaving scratches on the battery particularly on the negative end i see scratch marks all over.does this matter?

Superficial / light scratches on the metal = not really a problem.
Any damage to the wrap = problem.
