I received a new trident clone yesterday and decided to try it out. Dual coil reading .8 ohms and I throw it on my k100 to see how it vapes. Push the button and get nothing. I fiddle around and push it again, still nothing. I did notice the lower section of the k100 was warmer than normal so I take the whole thing apart. I have MNKE 18650s in there and have never had an issue. But the one I remove has overheated. The vinyl wrap is melted down towards the bottom on the side. I let the battery cool down. I then re-wrapped the battery and tried it again(I know this is not a smart thing to do). I guess the whole battery just shorted out because it will now not do anything. I'll drop it into the recycle bin at Home depot and get a couple more batteries. But what could cause one to go like that? These are only a few months old and I have never dropped them or abused them in any way.

The one time I had a battery get hot on me it was the Center Pin on the RDA that was shorting. Take a real hard look at your RDA itself as well as the build on it.

That sounds logical. I always use my multimeter to check resistance after an atty. is connected to the mech.

Yep, it is not hard to have an Oops with an RDA. Biggest thing is Being as vigilant as possible during assembly and Hopefully catching any problem early enough to avoid damage.

Not sure how you do it, but I ALWAYS Fire my RDA's Top off after build/ohms Verification and installing on any mod.
This gives instant feedback as to operational condition. No Vapor - STOP - inspect all aspects.

The battery saw a hard short, or very close to one. They heat up pretty quick when that happens.

Ya, it's not a good idea to hit the button again until you figure out where the short is and fix it. I doubt it will be the coil because you got nothing from it when you fired it. Also the coil would have popped if it was shorted close to the positive post. My bet is on the 510 pin in the mod or the atty. Let us know what you find :thumb:

Put it on a meter first thing. That's how I knew it was reading .8 ohms. I never guess, I always check. It fires just fine on a different battery as well. And still reads .8 ohms on the meter.

The Trident fires fine in another mod, or with another battery in the same K100?
