Battery smokin on charger question

My wife put 2 3v lifepo batts on the Haoba charger and it immediately started smoking?venting? with weird smell.She immediately took them off and she said they were very hot.I was not home at the time and even if had been I don't know very much about electronics.The batts and charger are both probably 6 months.I slapped the batts on a meter and they read 3.26v.Also she said her hands may have been a little wet when she put them on charger.My questions are is it safe to try to put these back on the charger or do u think it is the charger that caused it are maybe her damp hands and fingers?Would u keep the batts?

I'd probably look at the charger also Dale. Bring it in next time you come by..

Thanks Hoog so are u sayin don't use the charger or batts anymore?Probably better safe than sorry.I've had both of them for 6 months or longer anyways.Don't know when I can get by on new route now in metro charlotte and been working 12-14 hrs a day.I have only 1 other charger so will have to make time at some point and will have some new goodies almonds cashews and crackers mainly delivering Lance stuff now.
