It could be defective, or just elderly I guess. Some of those ego setups have been sitting around for a while, and that tends to degrade the battery.
Either way, I'd contact your vendor to do a warranty etc. I hope you have better luck with the next one.
One thing I never buy on "clearance" is internal batteries honestly. There is some older gear that's great, but the longer an internal battery sits on a shelf someplace, the higher the chance of the battery being degraded.

it really depends on the mah of the battery....for instance a 350mah isn't going to take very long at all to charge but also isn't going to last very long....and as stated depending on the age of the device the battery might be past it's "date"
also could be that when you charged it was the battery fully used or did it still have some life left?
if it's newly purchased I would contact them for a refund or exchange.

I'm not clear about what you posted.
You bought a new eGo T battery. I don't know what "wit lady beyond 40 mins" means.
(auto correct issues?)After 20 minutes on the charger, the green light on the charging adaptor turns green, which should indicate that the battery has reached a full charge.
I've had egos that turning green wasn't the end of the charging cycle. The light would later turn off completely to indicate a full charge.
But yeah, most egos are junk. Joyetech and Vision were probably the better ones.
