Battery tube plastic shoulder necessary ?

I bought a anyvape 18350 black tube and it does not have that little plastic shoulder at the top of the battery tube. Is it
neccesary ? I also popped one out of an old tube and it does not snap into the anyvape tube,it just falls through . I know the
joyetech ego t upgrade tubes come with it, just wondering if I got a bad anyvape tube.

The SID I gave my bro doesn't have one either, should still work given batteries are facing the right way.
