Can I just use AA batteries, or does it have to be the rechargeable batteries, and if so where do I buy them?
Do NOT attempt to put the wrong kind of batteries (AA) into a mod. It could have serious consequences (such as fire or explosions).
Vaping batteries are
lithium ion batteries. Lithium is the "chemistry". AA batteries are a different chemistry (alkaline).
But, you need to know more than the chemistry of the battery. Battery identification can be one of the most difficult aspects of battery purchasing. All batteries are not created equal and just because two batteries are labeled IMR18650, does not mean they have the same capabilities, characteristics and safety features.
Brand names and model numbers are also important. It's important where you purchase your batteries, too -- there are counterfeits and misrepresented specifications in the aftermarket trade. Some suppliers (intentionally and unintentionally) sell inferior batteries, so you must become an educated consumer.
You need to learn more about batteries, and battery chemistries to be exact. The following blog articles should be read to educate yourself. The life you save could be your own. (I'm serious.)
Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries Part 1
- For those who want to learn the differences between IMR, IMR/hybrid, ICR, and LiPo batteries. What do those numbers and letters on batteries mean? What's an amp rating and why is it more important than the mAh rating when choosing a battery for vaping?
