I used the sleeper berth provision to reset my day clock last night. So overall today will be upwards of 1000 total miles.

Usually on average I'm a bit over 700 with 750+ being a good day.

Traffic on the I 95 corridor and 55 mph truck speed limits in TN & CA limit my average quite a bit.

I should be in TX some time around midnight.

No kidding, that's a lot of miles. My .... hurts just thinking about it.

Nice pictures today, as always. :)

ETA - I liked those red reflectors. We just had an accident here where three people were killed, including a 10-year-old, because of a wrong way driver. Just as likely up here to be someone unfamiliar with the roads as a drunk. Anything that might help in those situations, I'm for.

It's just like any other job. You eventually adjust to it.

Thank you, FT.

Yeah, I like the red reflectors too. No idea how effective they are or how they'd stand up to winter weather abuse on the roads. But it's easily recognizable if nothing else. They're laid clear across a couple states down here.

wow. I'm tired just thinking about driving that far in one day lol.
My record is 1150 miles, back in 2001, from the middle of Arkansas to Flagstaff. However, it was in a car (a 1997 GTI VR6 with a bit of work), and the speedometer was rarely under 100 across most of New Mexico. Still, that's two time-zone boundaries in one day (but only 'cause AZ is on Pacific time during the summer). I've done a number of 1000 milers (FL -> PA up I95). These days, being a bit older and more averse to getting tickets, 600 miles in a 9 hour day is about all I'm willing to do.

I'll be headed north next weekend, about 1050 miles going the back way (95N to 26W to 77N to our mountain redebout). Then 81N to 78E to 476S to the salt mine in PA. I will pollute this thread with a pic of that apple-basket water tower if you don't beat me to it, Beck! :D

Amazon is an ever growing empire. This is the third massive, brand new fulfillment center I've personally been to in the last year.

Soon there'll be 200 trucks at minimum loading, unloading and/or waiting on this lot at any given time 24/7, 365.

That's an epic operation all on its own. Knowing they have this and bigger over and over, everywhere is nearly unfathomable.

From over 200 feet away from the building, I still can't get the whole front or back side to fit in a pic.

I can't imagine averaging 1000 miles every day.

I drove from Centennial, CO to Hopkinton, MA in almost exactly 48 hours (2000 miles).

I drove from Clinton, MA to Cosby, TN with only 1 gas stop (about 960 miles).

I did a road trip from Clinton, MA through Rangeley Lakes Region of ME to Madawaska, ME (northernest town in lower 48) stopped at Stephen King's house in Bangor on the way back to Clinton, MA without sleep. That was 1050 miles including about 12 miles of 4 wheeling and hundreds of miles of twisties. That hurt my ribs something fierce.

EDIT, almost forgot - Drove to Niagara Falls Canada, hung out for a few hours and drove back. (910 mi)

All those trips were in cars.

I get bored over a few hours on the Interstate. Power to you :thumb:

Rain! :D

My husband said that at about the 5,000' level here, 2,000' above us, the aspens (that haven't died from drought) are just starting to turn. About a month early for here but so was spring.

Down here, the "turning season" is sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving. With all the rain we've had lately, there are a lot of leaves on the ground, but they're dead and brown from heat, not autumnal.

Wish you guys out west could get those fires out; everytime there are massive wildfires out west, the east gets floods. Good thing the extreme El Nino means lower hurricane risk in the Atlantic, because we could never endure floods from the smoke clouds and big hurricanes at the same time.

Look at it this way: Trucking is the good life compared to working in there.
U no U right.
There is a humongous building being built between Tracy and Livermore , CA. It's gigantic. That would put it near I-5 and close to the Bay Area. I bet it's an Amazon warehouse. We've been really puzzled over it. Now it makes sense. :(
Could very well be.

Thanks, Mowgli.

They are predicting a lot of rain this winter here. Good news for us, disaster for those ravaged by fire. Next time Beckdg comes to CA, he may have to paddle once he gets over the pass.
