Reno (Sparks), NV was the closest decent truck stop.

Decent = less aggressive about enforcing the no-idling laws? I'm curious how truckers survive summer or winter sleeping in their trucks without being able to idle in most places anymore. I know some truck stops have "shore power" available, but casual observation indicates that only a small percentage of parking spaces are so equipped at present?

We started this direction from red bluff so that's what I was remembering.

I've never seen no idling laws enforced. First ticket I get I'll be putting in applications with companies with APUs.

Decent = decent showers at the very least.

Judging from today’s weather patterns, the smoke is from the Butte Fire, just north of us. It’s 71,000 acres, 135 homes so far documented as destroyed, 79 out buildings burned.

Just salt flats along the road after rain.

That makes sense... I'm not really familiar with northern Utah, mostly I think of Utah as mountainous and dry, that's why I wondered.
