you will need 5+ posts here before they let you move forward.

Welcome to ECF. the more the merrier.

We hope you will enjoy your stay and feel free to ask any questions you desire... also when exiting the thread please remember to return your seat to it's full upright position :)

Sorry about that! Been a day or two since I was "new" around here!

My mind is blown at the moment - almost any forum I've ever posted in as a newbie I've been blasted for no reason - this is a refreshing change of pace, so thank you! :)

I'm having some issues with both of my 510's batteries that seem to have happened at the same time and I was hoping you guys could help me? Luckily I also decided to bring my Ego-T to work today, otherwise I'd have to go and buy some analogues and I'm not particularly keen on that.

I can't remember which vender I bought the batteries from as I've ordered a billion parts from a billion websites, but if I had to describe them, they are about 2.5 inches long, have an imitation ash LED at the front and a small oval shaped manual button.

When I press the first battery's button while connected to either one of my 510 (joytech branded) attys - instead of lighting up like normal, the LED at the front flashes 10 times and then stops, but When it's disconnected from either attys, it lights up like it does normally.

The second battery seems to light up like normal for a split second but then stops and flashes 5 times (on both of my attys as well)

When I screw either of them into to the charger, the light stays green, so I presume they're fully charged?
(I've been very careful not to accidentally screw the battery into my Ego-T charger (I've engraved a "T" on it so I don't forget)

That's all the information I can think of that may be relevant, but If I've left something out let me know!

And seriously, thank's again for being so welcoming.

Edit: The second battery still flashes 5 times when disconeccted from the atty's

Vapers gotta have vaper's back ;)

We are doing ourselves and others good too with the introduction of electronic cigarettes. Together we are strong.

How old are these batteries? Did you try other carts on them or just the one?

They're only a couple of weeks old - I got them because my eGo-T was attracting strange looks from the other smokers in my building and I wanted something a little bit more descrete.

almost sounds like the atty's are shorted or somehow the center posts on the batteries got pushed down.

I that problem with my first eGo-T battery, I was pushing the button too hard and ended up moving the microchip to an angle that the button couldn't reach anymore. It took some soldering as I pulled the battery apart a bit too fast and snapped some wires, but I eventually managed to fix it and ever since then I've been careful to watch how much pressure I apply when using them, so I'm mostly sure that it's not that.

If both happend at the same time. It could be your battery charger or a short somewhere. Some one here will tell you what to check out.

I've been using the USB charger they came with plugged into my computer - But I've been doing that since I got them without a problem. I'm honestly not too clear with the concept of shorting, so is it possible that there was some sort of power surge through my PC?

I was thinking it may have been the atty's messing up too, but they both flash their respective amount of times regardless of which atty they are plugged into

I also can't explain how the first battery seems to work normally when not plugged in to anything, but the other one still flashes when I do the same to it.

Sorry for being such a pain, guys - but your help is much appreciated!

(I hope I'm using the quote tabs right >.<)

You're not being a pain at all, we are just asking questions to try and help find your problem.
Shorted isn't anything to do with the PC, it's in the battery circuitry, it means somehow the positive and negative posts touched on way or the other and killed it/them. This is why we are asking about trying different atty's on them. If you have a bad atty it will show on both batteries as bad. If you keep trying to use it it may short out the battery, killing it.
Try another atty on your EGO, see if it works, then try it on one of these batteries and see if it works. This will help narrow it down to the atty or the battery.

I didn't know the eGo battery was compatible with the 510 atty's, but both of them seem to work fine when I hook them up to it so it must be the batteries.

Are shorted batteries salvagable?

Hi and welcome! Honestly, batteries aren't that expensive (at least the ones we're talking about (just wait until you start hearing about Provaris), so I wouldn't bother fiddling with them. It sounds like you're much more advanced than I am with soldering and such, but it's a lot of effort for an iffy return. Even though your kit was called a "510," 510 is also a thread size (in fact, when you see "510" posted on here that's what most people are referring to). My guess is that when JoyeTech came out with the original 510 e-cigs they didn't anticipate having future products with 510 threads. Anyway, an eGo has 510 threads, so anything else with 510 threads will fit on it. The only thing not compatible is the charger. A little 510 battery cannot be charged on an eGo charger, but all of the other eGos can.

510 Batteries, 510 Battery, 510 E-Cig Batteries | MadVapes (I'm not recommending this vendor over any other - it's just an example of prices)

I picked up on that a while ago, but I'd already fallen into the bad habit of just calling the whole setup a 510 and I keep forgetting that people mostly use the term in reference to threading >.<

It was actually surprisingly easy to fix the chip - I just pulled apart my other ego battery very carefully to figure out which wires went where, used solder on the broken one to attatch the the wires to the right places :) I like to think of it as just metal glue

I'll order some new ones as I doubt I'm going to pick up how to repair a battery any time soon, but I enjoy taking things apart to see how they work anyway so if I find anything interesting I'll let you guys know :)
