Been vaping for about 2 years. Lots of questions.

So to start off, I got into vaping with a Blu ecig (no jokes please.... I learned quickly).

Needless to say that didn't last long. My parents were already into the totally wicked stuff. They started with basic kits, and eventually started buying the tank system.

Currently I use the tank system, since they buy in large quantities and it is just "easier" that way.

But. It. Sucks. My atomizers last 1 week max at full strength. Some end up with the "burning" taste that I have read so much about. Others are fine, but after a weak I just can't get a decent pull. I have to seriously pull as hard as I can to get even a decent plume. I have done a lot of reading on these issues, and have tried cleaning them, trying to rework the wick. I either don't get it, or it just isn't working.

This is probably partially to blame on my need for high VG liquids. I have tried many liquids (the one thing I have spent serious time trying and buying with). Anything with more than 30% PG just hurts my throat, and not in the good 'throat hit' way. It makes my throat horribly itchy and painful.

What I use now for reference:
Totally Wicked Tornado Tank setup
Standard batteries it comes with (650mah - lithium)
LR Tornado Tank Atomizer
Basic tank with the puncture cap

ANYWAY, onto my questions :)
*What types of atomizers can I put on this battery type that wont clog/burn after a week. I think a lot of the issue is these atomizers suck.
*I like the tank system, nice and easy, but I don't like blowing the aty out and wasting liquid all the time. Is their a dependable tank system out there? Should I just switch to a carto?
*Should I just switch to an APV? If so is there any APV that uses common atys (so I don't have to rewind one myself), and has an automatic feed? I have been considering a Reo, Pavari, Zenesis etc, but I don't want to deal with winding my own coils, and EVERYTHING seems to ALWAYS be out of stock EVERYWHERE. I don't need variable voltage, but if I am going to spend the money I want to get it right, so I mine as well.
*I have been through so many explanations and reviews on APVs and I get what they do. I am an electrical engineer also.... so I understand the theory 100% :p. But DAMN if these people don't make everything as confusing as possible. Does this kit come with an aty? Do I need to grab a battery elsewhere? Does the liquid wick in, do I flip it upside down and squeeze a bottle, is it automatic?

Help? Please excuse my incredibly long post... I tried to be as detailed as possible. Also, I did read the FAQ, I have done my research. I just want some input.

Have only been vaping about 4 months or so, but I tried alot of things very quickly. I now own a Provari, and am very happy with it. I also made the move to genisis type rebuildable tanks (I use the Line), and I love it. No more disposable stuff or dealing with cartomizers. The performance/taste is on par with direct dripping.

Haven't tried a clearo yet. It's mainly been whatever I can get my hands on through the family.

Thanks for the advice on the rebuildable tank idea. My only worry is that I don't want to deal with any issues associated with self-rebuildable tanks. They have plenty of advantages, but I don't mind buying punched cartos for the 'easy' ones to be quite honest :)

Ok I looked this up it's like an Ego T system. I will assume the atomizer is built into the cone.

Burning taste means the atomizer is not getting juice. That rig demands a long slow draw, you can't hit it like a cigarette.

Hard pulling after a week. How often do you clean the atomizers? What do you do when you clean the atomizers?

This is probably partially to blame on my need for high VG liquids. I have tried many liquids (the one thing I have spent serious time trying and buying with). Anything with more than 30% PG just hurts my throat, and not in the good 'throat hit' way. It makes my throat horribly itchy and painful.

Thin your liquid so it wicks. Use a drop or two of distilled water and shake it up. VG is very thick juice.

You could try a clearomizer tank they work on that battery. You will have to clean it out off and on and you should still thin your VG juice.

You could try a carto, it will work on that battery. Cartos will last perhaps a week with thinned VG juice if it isn't dark colored, less time if it is. Cartos are cheap.

You could also try a tank that holds a carto inside and feeds it. I use them, the carto inside lasts a week or so, again you would need to thin that VG juice.

I understand your frustration, I had no help and no store to go to when I first started researching e cigs. I had to teach myself how it all went along. I had vaped for several months before I found ECF and started reading here. It looked very intimidating at first glance, I was not used to forums at all. Once I got into it it became easier to read, and I realized that most people automatically tell you to use what they use regardless of how far along you are with vaping and understanding the terminology.

Another vote for the Vivi Nova. I prefer the mini version, but both are great. If you get a regular Vivi Nova, make sure you're getting the latest version. Version 1 had problems with the connector. I clean mine and then do dry burns in 3-5 second bursts until the coil glows nice and red. Then I let it cool and give it a quick rinse in warm water to get rid of any burnt taste from the dry burn. I blow it out and pat the wicks dry, then put a couple of drops of liquid on the coil, a drop on each wick close to where they enter the head and put it all back together. The dry burns get rid of the junk that can get built up on the coil. Putting the drops on the coil helps prevent it from oxidizing while it's apart and helps prime it.

@Fiamma

Thank you very much for the in-depth reply, I really appreciate it. Exactly what I was looking for, just some honest to goodness advice :).

When I clear my attys, I drop them in hot water (distilled) for about 10min, take out, blow them out like crazy. Then drop them in close-to-boiling hot water for 10 min (note: not on a stovetop), take them out, blow out like crazy. I then allow them to dry for a bit, attach them to the battery, and turn it on until the coils get nice and toasty, within reason. Slowly burning off the gunk. I follow the guide posted elsewhere in this forum very closely (just can't remember the guy that posted it off the top of my head).

Do cartos really only last a WEEK? I haven't seen that posted anywhere else (yet anyway lol). That's downright horrible.... though they are quite cheap.

Again, thank you. I appreciate your help.

Thank you for the advice. I really like the look of this type of system (well so far at least, from my 10min of watching youtube videos lol).

Thanks for all the responses everyone!!

Good for you with the distilled water.

When I used Ego T's I never dry burned them. It burned the wick and gave me a bad taste and it killed the atty itself much faster.

Atties and cartos are considered expendables. My dripping atties don't last a long time and if I get a week out of a carto in a tank I am happy ;)

Now I use some horizontal coil Kangers not in tanks and they last longer but then I'm not vaping them as much as my tanks get vaped.

I forgot one thing. If the atty was really crapped up after I soaked it a couple of times in hot water I put it in a shotglass with everclear covering it and let it soak overnight. Then rinsed very well and let it dry for a day or so.

It burns them out a bit faster, but it destroys gunk much "better." Though I agree they die a little bit faster it would seem. I can most assuredly say I am an experienced basic-tank user since that's all I've had for over a year :). I can get mine to last, with regular clearing, about 1-2 months. But like I mentioned, they eventually are past the point of being able to be cleaned, and require the suction of a vacuum to get any hit.

Also, as a note, I do pull these very slowly, I remember reading the same advice you mentioned in that regard about a year ago. The quicker I pull on it (with my setup), the quicker they die. But either way they die much to quickly, get burn taste much to easily, and in general I get a lot of bad atys with a from-the-factory burn taste. Despite my best effort to clean/attempt a noobish rewicking. They are just such a pain in the .... at times.... :(

Thanks again Fiamma!!!

I use a tank on my lavatube, (just a generic tank). I punch two holes in the carto and honestly, I think it's been a month and the carto is still going strong.

I also use a CE4 (stardust) clearomizer, I have had great results with that as well. I use it on my lavatube with an adapter and my ego battery.

Just grab a nice VV Reo with a good Atty a top like a HH-357 or I06 and your good to go :) No more fiddling around and these Attys last for months when kept wet which is easy to do with a good feeder Mod like the Reo.
