This is posted quite a bit but it can't be posted enough. Go study Basic to Advanced Battery Information from Battery University
There's trickery and short cuts everywhere so it's good to know batteries before you pick the latest hot mod. Mods aren't that attractive when the battery explodes an inch from your nose. You won't look so hot either.

This post is for me too because I probably know less than most here. But I've seen people who have vaped for two days then bought a mod and probably left.

I've spent whole days looking at cool stuff here. But when I thought of buying a mod started reading about unprotected, IMR etc and thought, I don't know ****.

Is your vendor really selling the safest batteries? What line of batteries are most likely to be knockoffs. Who are some companies that can be trusted to keep your safety in mind first? Should I buy those 18650's on ebay for $2.99?

Doing everything right does not mean that there will never be an accident at least put the odds in your favor.

I saw that between 2001-2010 that there were 113 incidents of batteries like this going postal on airplanes. You never hear about this stuff, at least I don't.
thanks

The ultrafires on ebay work fine for me. Many vendors include them with their PV's. Considering all the batteries out there 113 cases of battery issues is nothing. I bet more people die getting stuck by lightning in 10 years. Just make sure to take the proper precautions.. that 2 cents for safety fuse is a win..

Yes yes meli. I'm in Cape Town, some of my go to sites doesn't ship batteries outside of the US. If I order a device from vendor A and batteries from vendor B it gets pricy shipping wise as we pay anywhere from $8 to $16 for a single order. Also the risk that it gets send back to the vendor because USPS can see its batteries and that can create more drama.

Ek neem maar aan jy verstaan Afr - is Groendakkies in jhb? Laat my weet waar jy graag bestel.

Off Topic:
Nee, Groendakkies is in Sterkfontein, infact GroenDakkies is Sterkfontein, dis in die Transvaal, north west of Jo'burg, in die gamadoelaas, niks anders is daar except for Krugersdorp! Vergewe my Afrikaans it's been a long time since I've written it, meestaal ek gebruik dit om mense te vloek, en kry nie die kans om te skryf nie, not since I finished Matric, I left ZA soon after I finished reading at Wits.

But really you can get batteries like the ones mentioned, in South Africa, I don't understand why you need to get them from the USA and pay high shipping and customs charges not to mention them being stolen in the post?? when you can buy and even order online locally?

There is one local site (link) that stocks 18650 and other size batteries but the prices are unbelievably high and this is Trustfire batteries at $30 for a single battery. I want AW IMR quality batteries rather than crap if you know what I mean. More risk with undervolt and overvolt with unprotected batts but then again thats why I use a volt meter. Not to mention mods that can only use flat top unprotected batteries.

PS: here is a link to Google Translate If anyone is curious. Sorry for the derailment of this thread a bit but you dont meet another SA person on a US forum a lot.
